Our cottage is steeped in the history of the area dating back to 1783. It comfortably sleeps 4 plus a further 2 guests on a deeply sprung sofa bed. The location is great for walking, cycling and exploring the Ironbridge Museums, pubs and restaurants.

Жилье

We have tried hard to create a flexible, practical and pleasant space for you to stay. The two single beds can be zipped together to create one king sized bed, so whether you are two couples or a family you will be well catered for.

More guests ?

The sofa bed is of good quality with a deeply sprung mattress for optimum comfort. We do allow responsible dog owners to bring their pets, but would ask that you restrict them to the downstairs open plan area using the child gates provided.

History of the property.
Carpenters Row is an early example of accommodation built specifically by the Coalbrookdale Company to attract a workforce to its employment.

The row originally consisted of eight cottages and two brew houses. The design of the row was symmetrical: numbers 1-5 were mirror images of numbers 6-10.

Each house accommodated the workforce using a system of 'hot bedding', workers from one shift occupying the straw mattress beds from the other, approximately 15 persons per house. So at one point in history the three converted houses that you will be staying in would have once housed around 45 workers.

Each house also performed a certain function, the brew-house, what is now the kitchen, the old cast iron pot from the kitchen is now in the garden, the bakehouse is number 4 Carpenters row and is desperately in need of some attention which the Museum are planning to do.

Доступно гостям

You have access to the whole house, there are no adjoining neighbours, as the properties next door are owned by the Museum and are currently unoccupied.

Please treat our house with the respect it deserves so that we can offer a great house in a great location for a fair price time and time again.
The house is strictly non-smoking. We will allow you to bring your well behaved pets (maximum of two dogs) and we think it only fair that owners restrict their pets to the downstairs living area, are kept off the furniture and owners scoop the poop from the garden.

Please respect our neighbours - they are all very polite and also appreciate the area greatly.

Details for recycling and refuse collection are at the house.

We stayed in this wonderful historic home for 2 weeks whilst we visited from the United States. Wow - the wood burner, the 5* bathrooms, the flowers / chocolates / wine waiting for us on arrival - all blew us away. The attention to detail in preparing the cottage for guests to relax in is impressive. The cottage was cleaned and prepared for our arrival to an exceptional standard. The kitchen is better equipped than our home kitchen so if you're like to cook meals during your stay then this is the place for you. If you like to eat out (like us) then Ironbridge has many great places to eat including real-ale pubs, cafes, gastro pubs, fine dining restaurants very nearby. We appreciated the rapid and hassle free communication with Stuart and Clare and would not hesitate in staying here again if we are in the area.

A lovely cottage. Very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed for a great holiday. Carpenter's Row is well placed for all the Ironbridge Museums. We also enjoyed the children's playground just along the road, and woodland walks behind the cottage. We definitely would go again.

The house is very comfortable and has everything you need for a few days' stay. We always ate in and there was everything you needed to prepare meals. The house is close enough to Ironbridge and the museums to walk, which was ideal for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can wholeheartedly recommend it!

Staying in a historic property linked to the history of Ironbridge really added to the holiday. Our children loved Enginuity (just a 5 minute walk), and other attractions are quite nearby. Blists Hill Victorian village was fabulous, lots to see and do. The cottage was first class, and plenty of room for 4. All in all, a great place to stay for a family holiday.

We had a fabulous stay in Carpenter's Row. The cottage is so stylish and cosy, there were times when we found it had to leave to do the tourist thing. Stuart has thought of everything, the cottage is really well equipped and comfortable and we appreciated the excellent information about what to do locally. Loved the area too. We came for the Ironbridge museums - which are fab - but as Londoners we loved the River Severn, green trees all around us and great walks from the cottage. Going to come back in the winter so we can use the wood burning stove!

О хозяине Stuart

Clare and Stuart are the proud owners of 1-3 Carpenters Row. We have owned the property since 1996 and have both lived in the property and rented the property for long term lets.

When renovating the cottage we decided to create a holiday let that is practical and of the quality and cleanliness that we would expect to find.

Over the past 2 decades we have travelled and worked abroad in Sweden and Dublin, as well as living in Cheshire and Bristol.

We have chosen to move back to Shropshire as we think it's a great county to live in and the Ironbridge Gorge is one of its many gems.

We currently live and work in the Telford area, Clare is a Speech and Language Therapist and Stuart is an IT consultant. In our free time we are found walking on the footpaths of the Wrekin and Ercall with our black Lab named Jess. We cycle the lanes of Shropshire and stop off in the towns of Much Wenlock, Ludlow and Shrewsbury for good coffee and well deserved cakes. We hope that you enjoy your stay in the area as much as we enjoy living here.
