Our cottage is steeped in the history of the area dating back to 1783. It comfortably sleeps 4 plus a further 2 guests on a deeply sprung sofa bed. The location is great for walking, cycling and exploring the Ironbridge Museums, pubs and restaurants.
We have tried hard to create a flexible, practical and pleasant space for you to stay. The two single beds can be zipped together to create one king sized bed, so whether you are two couples or a family you will be well catered for.

The sofa bed is of good quality with a deeply sprung mattress for optimum comfort. We do allow responsible dog owners to bring their pets, but would ask that you restrict them to the downstairs open plan area using the child gates provided.
History of the property.
Carpenters Row is an early example of accommodation built specifically by the Coalbrookdale Company to attract a workforce to its employment.
The row originally consisted of eight cottages and two brew houses. The design of the row was symmetrical: numbers 1-5 were mirror images of numbers 6-10.
Each house accommodated the workforce using a system of 'hot bedding', workers from one shift occupying the straw mattress beds from the other, approximately 15 persons per house. So at one point in history the three converted houses that you will be staying in would have once housed around 45 workers.
Each house also performed a certain function, the brew-house, what is now the kitchen, the old cast iron pot from the kitchen is now in the garden, the bakehouse is number 4 Carpenters row and is desperately in need of some attention which the Museum are planning to do.
You have access to the whole house, there are no adjoining neighbours, as the properties next door are owned by the Museum and are currently unoccupied.

2 bathrooms (1 is En-suite)
27 ft (8.2m) Oak Beamed living room
1 wood burner + gas central heating

Please treat our house with the respect it deserves so that we can offer a great house in a great location for a fair price time and time again.
The house is strictly non-smoking. We will allow you to bring your well behaved pets (maximum of two dogs) and we think it only fair that owners restrict their pets to the downstairs living area, are kept off the furniture and owners scoop the poop from the garden.
Please respect our neighbours - they are all very polite and also appreciate the area greatly.
Details for recycling and refuse collection are at the house.
We have set the cottage up so that you should need minimal intervention from us. However please feel free to make your enquiries to us via Airbnb and we will try our best to answer your queries. we will provide our mobile phone numbers so if you have any questions/problems when staying at the cottage you can get in touch with us.
Clare and Stuart are the proud owners of 1-3 Carpenters Row. We have owned the property since 1996 and have both lived in the property and rented the property for long term lets.
When renovating the cottage we decided to create a holiday let that is practical and of the quality and cleanliness that we would expect to find.
Over the past 2 decades we have travelled and worked abroad in Sweden and Dublin, as well as living in Cheshire and Bristol.
We have chosen to move back to Shropshire as we think it's a great county to live in and the Ironbridge Gorge is one of its many gems.
We currently live and work in the Telford area, Clare is a Speech and Language Therapist and Stuart is an IT consultant. In our free time we are found walking on the footpaths of the Wrekin and Ercall with our black Lab named Jess. We cycle the lanes of Shropshire and stop off in the towns of Much Wenlock, Ludlow and Shrewsbury for good coffee and well deserved cakes. We hope that you enjoy your stay in the area as much as we enjoy living here.
