First class B & B. Great location, incredible people, phenomenal breakfast. Imagine eggs, yogurt with hemp hearts, chia seeds, 5 types of jams/goodies lined up next to the best fresh sourdough bread on Haida Gwaii (I can make that statement since I too bake sourdough). Highly recommended

We loved our stay at Copper Beech House. Charming home on the water, very clean and plenty of books to read in the common space. Delicious breakfast of sourdough bread, preserved fruits, yogurt, granola and eggs. We would stay again and will recommmend!

What a great space and a wonderful experience. Susan and her team totally know Haida Gwaii and I learned so much about the place. The place was beautiful, convenient, right on the waterfront, and a good value. Everything was clean, bed was comfortable and had quality linens, and very responsive - always answered the phone when I called and replied to all messages promptly. Would love to come back someday!

Our host was exceptional! The Copper Beech House was beyond our expectations... everything from AMAZING breakfasts made by Faustine and lovely scenery / clean room / interesting conversation. We were lucky to have two nights spent at this beautiful location, it's something we will never forget. Thank you!

As soon as I mentioned I was going to Masset a friend insisted I book a room at the Copper Beech House. It did not disappoint. It is a whimsical space. One that can leave you spaced out, staring at odds and ends hung from the walls, lining shelves. Susan is a treat to be around and I imagine she could answer just about any question you might need answered during your stay. Be sure to read her booklet about the house - it's history and where it came from. Interesting stuff in there. If you're lucky, there will be equally interesting guests staying at the house to learn about and chat with during your stay. If you're not into strangers, this suite in particular does afford you the amenities (kitchen, bathroom, two beds) to hunker down on your own, no real need to be social. But you'd be missing out if you didn't go upstairs for the epic breakfast spread. I don't think I need to explain why Masset itself is worth visiting. When I go back, I'll be staying here. The only people I'd suggest might not like this suite in particular, is those who have grown to be taller than six feet. The tucked away bed might be a little short for your comfort. Also worth mentioning here -- the surf shop (the only surf shop in town) is right across the street from the Beech House. Made it easy to pick up a board. The surf spot we went to was a ~15 minute drive east. Thanks to Susan, Conch and Brent for the hospitality.

I am a Canadian poet, novelist, journalist, lecturer (UBC; Optional Residency in Creative Writing MFA Programme); mother, grandmother of twins, wife of Stephen Reid (drum-maker and author of Jackrabbit Parole and A Crowbar in the Buddhist Garden). I love cooking for guests and making them feel at home at Copper Beech House. We have the most interesting guests in the world come our way (I think!) and what I hear most often, after a visit to Haida Gwaii, is, “This experience changed my life!” We want your stay to be an event in your life, more than just a comfy bed and fresh sourdough bread in the morning. Expect the unexpected, relax into daydreamy Island time, and your visit here will be...utterly memorable.
