Up to 12 guests can enjoy great winter skiing, summer and fall hiking and mountain biking, private lake and beach access, high speed wifi, laundry & a fully equipped kitchen. This is a custom-built house with tremendous open space, amazing natural light, and all of the luxurious touches that will make your mountain vacation special and comfortable. High-end touches include hand-made quilts by one of America's most award-winning quilters, a 6-bottle wine fridge, a dumbwaiter for groceries and firewood, and and Lake Tahoe-themed art all around the home. Our house is geared toward families with children and teenagers - we love welcoming multiple generations for a family vacation, or even a group of local friends who bring their families together for a fun weekend in the mountains.
Our home is heated by a very powerful fireplace/stove rather than central heat. We provide all firewood to our guests!
The house comfortably sleeps 12 guests in 3 bedrooms + a private den (which is listed as the 4th bedroom), a 2nd floor loft/play area, and 2.5 bathrooms. We can accommodate 3 couples in private spaces, or 2-3 families depending on the number of kids and their required sleeping arrangements.

-Hundreds of books, many dozen board games for all ages, area maps
-Essential baby and kid items including two pack 'n plays, a changing pad, a boppy, burp cloths, baby soap, white noise machine, sleep to wake clock, and a playmat.
-Kitchen is completely stocked with pots, pans, silverware, toaster, coffee maker, bakeware, etc.
-We include cooking aids for your enjoyment and condiments in the fridge - olive oil, about a dozen spices, coffee, tea and apple cider, dressings, hot sauce, etc.
-Lockbox for entry if we are not at home; we will share the code the day before your arrival
-Note: we don't have television, DVD player or cable here (on purpose!), but we do have wifi. If you are interested in watching something, please bring your laptop to stream or watch DVDs.
The entire home is yours to use, including a washer/dryer, kitchen essentials, BBQ, deck, wood to make a fire, the garage, picnic baskets, beach blankets, and tons of books and games. Walk out the front door and find trails less than 1/10 mile away to explore! As our guests, you'll have access to the private Serene Lakes Homeowners' Beach just 1 mile away.

Your hosts will be nearby in the Bay Area and just a phone call or text message away if we don't have the chance to meet you personally. You have 24-7-365 access to us via phone. Keys will be in a lockbox for you.

In winter: this area gets up to 600" of snow per year. Please plan your trip accordingly as we cannot be responsible for missed nights due to weather or travel delays. Check for chain requirements by looking up Cal Trans or the CHP on the web and searching for highway 80 to find current road conditions. **The driveway is plowed 1 time per day, but we cannot guarantee at what time.**

Please remove all shoes before entering the main living level (there is a mud room downstairs). We're an asthma-and-allergy-plagued family and appreciate dust and dirt staying outside!
Due to fire danger, there is absolutely no smoking permitted on the entire property at all (indoors or outdoors - this includes the driveway, balconies, and side/back yard areas) and no open flames are permitted other than the BBQ and wood stove for heat. If cigarette butts or stove ashes are found on the property during or immediately after a guest's stay, an additional $100 cleaning fee will be deducted from the security deposit.
Any excessive odors resulting from a guest's stay (including smoke, vomit, residual cooking odor, incense, etc.) that cannot be aired out during a typical house cleaning will incur additional housekeeping fees.
This is a family neighborhood and home. Quiet Hours are from 10pm until 8am every day, during which time we ask that noise levels be kept suitable for a family neighborhood.
On heavy snow days, you may experience anywhere from 12" - 36" of snow in the driveway. Our plow service comes 1x per day. We are unable to ask for an additional plow unless there is an emergency. Please come prepared to drive in snowy conditions. You may also need to shovel small berms of snow away from your vehicle in extreme snowfall conditions.
We ask our guests to leave the home in tidy, neat order, and in return, we promise an impeccable environment upon your arrival with professional cleaning ahead of time.
The hot tub in the garage is not operational; please do not use. Ski, snowboard, snowshoe, boats, and bicycles and other outdoor equipment at the home are for the exclusive use of the owners and may not be used by guests unless expressly permitted in writing. Any use of recreational equipment is at the guest's own risk and we do not assume any liability.
We ask guests to kindly strip their beds before checking out.

Professional couple and parents of three kids. We love to explore new cities and just did a 2-week trip to Europe while running and hiking 75 miles through mountains and around lakes (all via Airbnb, of course!) We are both a host and a guest via Airbnb. We will care for your home as if it were ours, and we appreciate guests who do the same with our house. We look forward to meeting you!
