No tiny toddlers - our house is not child proofed. Guest bathroom would be shared between all guests. (Some guests use downstairs half bath as well). You will be on a separate level of our house reserved for guests only. We will, however, be in the house as well, and our bedroom and bath are upstairs from the guest rooms. We have a friendly lab-mix dog.
Travelers are welcome to watch TV in the sun room or the downstairs family room. There is WiFi in the rooms. There is a guest shelf in the fridge in the kitchen, and we can find space for cereal boxes etc. Breakfast can be eaten in the dining room or on the deck in good weather. Other than breakfast, no other meals can be cooked in our kitchen. You can bring in food that's already cooked or just needs to be nuked, but several past bad experiences have made this necessary.
Общение с гостями
We are happy to offer travel and sight-seeing advice when we are home. We can recommend good restaurants both locally and in Chicago. We have lived in the area most of our lives, and know where just about everything worth seeing is located.
Другие важные подробности
We are very close to Old Orchard/Westfield Mall, and also the Presbyterian Homes and Three Crowns retirement centers. It's a short drive to the Chicago Botanic Garden, beautiful in all seasons. We are a short drive or bus ride from where NU plays football and basketball, as well as the NU campus and the lakefront, and the beautiful Baha'i Temple. We are also close to Evanston Hospital, and not far from trains into Chicago.
We ask guests not to take food into the bedrooms, it attracts ants and dogs. We had one trip to the emergency vet because of food left in the bedroom. Any dishes used should be rinsed and left in the sink. We recycle and compost and will show you where all the containers are hiding. Please, no glass containers or glasses in the bathroom, we provide unbreakable ones. Hang wet towels on hooks behind door, not on shower rail or metal beds - they will rust. If you have questions, please ask. Our coffee maker is a bit of a puzzle - please ask us to make you some coffee as it can get broken. There is a shelf in the fridge for guests - we help with breakfast, and are happy to provide plates etc. for other meals that you bring in already cooked. We have a folder in the main room with restaurant recommendations, public transport information and local sight seeing ideas. If there is anything that you need that we can help with, we will. We want you to have a safe and comfortable visit.
Our cleaning lady comes every other Monday - she will clean the bathroom, but not your bedroom unless you ask for her to go in and dust and vacuum. Please do not invite people who are not staying here into our home without our permission.
