Our charming 100 year old renovated adobe is cool, light and cozy. It offers a private garden, wonderful mountain views at sunrise, a short walking distance from downtown, and an outdoor table for dining under the covered porch.

Windmill Retreat is a fine example of authentic adobe architecture situated on a hill in Marfa's northeast section with lovely views of the Fort Davis mountains and a short walk from Marfa town center.

This charming 100 year old adobe has been recently renovated, integrating modern conveniences while maintaining the integrity of the original architecture, including an old wooden windmill structure on the property. Minimally yet comfortably furnished, the one bedroom, one bath home features a queen-sized bed, a full sleep sofa, and a large gourmet kitchen with new modern appliances and accessories, ideal for cooking and entertaining. Hanging on the walls is contemporary art by established local artists from galleries in Marfa.

The east porch is bathed in beautiful morning light, and features a table that comfortably seats eight. The enclosed west garden affords privacy off the Master bedroom, comfortable Adirondack chairs, and small copper fire pit/grill, as well as indigenous blooming flowers and aromatic plants.

Windmill Retreat offers privacy with mature Pinon trees, and a peaceful surround...perfect for writers, artists, designers and creative people.

Jon's house was lovely. It's perfect for a couple or small family. The mountain scenery was a nice surprise. What a beautiful sunrise! We also took advantage of the generous collection of books, many of which are specific to Marfa artists. Thank you Jon, for creating such a nice adobe abode for our stay. :-)

My wife, my nephew and myself stayed here for three nights over new year's eve 2015. Melissa, the local manager, welcomed us at the house and showed us around. The place is cosy and tastefully furnished, and we enjoyed our stay. Art from local galleries is on the walls, and a great set of art books is on the shelves in the living room. I'm a designer, my wife is an artist, and we both like architecture. We felt that we were in a place put together by someone with similar sensibilities. We took walks through Marfa from the house and shopped for provisions at the Get Go, a small, well-stocked grocery store. The large table on the porch outside and the cool enclosed firepit beckoned, but with frost every night (Marfa is at almost 4700 feet elevation), we spent the evenings indoors instead.

Designer, Professor, athlete, animal lover, motorcycle rider, and general aesthete who loves art, literature, music, dance, bike riding, hiking, kayaking, gardening and cooking.

Being passionate about art is an important aspect of being in Marfa. Then there's the raw, minimal, and open high plains dessert landscape, the incredible light and the stars at night that make this place so special.
There's real culture in Marfa; art, literature and music. And now plenty of good food, and places to get great coffee and to hang out and meet folks. We love being there - it's a place where there's a lot to do, but also a place to relax in real 'Marfa-time'.
Like-minded people will appreciate our little home, and will also fall in love with Marfa. Come on - give a try!
