Our lovingly updated 1930's cape is located in a quiet residential neighborhood that is a five-minute walk to the Metro and a mere two-minutes to the lively heart of downtown Silver Spring. Feel free to relax by the fountain in our lush secluded garden, snuggle up with a book on your feather-topped bed in your bright private room -- or stroll down the block to for a inexpensive or fine dining, yoga studios, stores, movie theaters and nightlife. The absolute best of both worlds!
Walk to Metro! For the past 30 years, we have called our lovingly restored 1930's Cape Cod house our home. Our bedrooms are moderate in size and big in charming -- with sloping ceilings and nooks.
Our house is nestled in a wooded, quiet neighborhood, yet is only 3 blocks from the Metro -- the major transportation link to all the "must see" sights and museums of Washington DC. It is a 20-minute metro ride from the Silver Spring station to the heart of DC.
Your cozy room, like many bedrooms in old Cape style homes, has a slanted roof with a skylight (great for star-gazing and moonlight meditation). It is furnished with a feather-topped double bed and a couch that can convert to another sleep space for your kids (the room would be tight for four adults!).
There is a shared bathroom by your room (with a shower, no tub) and another downstairs. We have high speed wireless internet throughout the house.
Please note: Our spritely young (hypo-allergenic) dog, Sophia, will love to visit with you and possibly steal your socks. If this would be bothersome, feel free to keep your door closed. As well, she likes to eat paper so we guard all trash cans esp. those in the bathrooms. Thank you!
We welcome you to share our well-equipped kitchen with us.
All common areas of the house, including our living room, sitting/meditation room, and garden are available to you.
Let us know if you need to wash clothes in our laundry room.

We're full time residents, home most of the time, and we look forward to hosting you. Sophia, our goldendoodle puppy, will be delighted to meet you, too.
We've lived here for 30 years and we know this city inside-out. We're happy to point you in the direction of good restaurants and interesting things to do. If you need help making travel arrangements, we can lend a hand with that, too.

If you visit in warm weather months, you can relax by the fountain in our herb and flower garden, or find some quiet in our secret garden that meanders into the wooded area at the back of the yard. In cooler months, you can sit by the wood fire in our windowed kitchen or lounge on the couch by the fireplace in the living room.
You will be greeted by a young goldendoodle named Sophia -- who will be rather insistent about getting to know you. She is in training to become a Therapy Dog and loves meeting new people (and because she is half-poodle, she is non-shedding and hypo-allergenic).
We are quiet and hope that you are, too. Quiet hours are from 9pm to 7am.
We do not smoke and and have a strict no-smoking policy.
We do not watch TV ourselves, so we don't provide TV for guests, either. (However, you are welcome to use our Wifi to access media on your laptops and tablets).
We will pick up after ourselves in all common areas, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms, and hope that you will, too.

We're Laurie & David from Silver Spring (a close suburb of Washington DC) and we love meeting people from all over the world! Avid travelers ourselves, we were becoming rather bored with hotel stays when we happily discovered airbnb. It is now our delight to open our home to fellow airbnbers looking for a unique travel experience.
We enjoy practicing yoga, sitting in meditation, reading good books, moving plants around in our garden and eating fresh, locally-sourced food. We are dog-lovers and busy raising a spirited young goldendoodle named Sophia (who cannot wait to meet you!).
