The apartment is very nice. The ceiling fans and air conditioning have been a godsend during this past month of high heat and humidity! Overall the location is really good, central to a massive shopping complex (Plaza America), a 5-10minute walk away. The house is close to a bus stop that run directly into the heart of Playa del Carmen. Buses are cheap so its the best option. We walked on many occasions into Playa, and its a nice 3km, 40 minute walk. If you walk you can see the more local side to Playa; with it's little taco/burro stores, hardware stores and fresh fruit and veg stores. There's lots of cheap ice cream places along here too (none of the fancy expensive brands - just local homemade fresh goodies for low prices).
The house itself is well equipped and will suit the needs of anyone wanting to make their own meals. There's a blender, fruit juicer, sandwich press, microwave, electric hob top, fridge freezer and a coffee machine. The only thing missing was an oven.. The master bedroom is big, bright and airy. There's heaps of storage for you stuff and the bed is big and comfy too. The second bedroom also has a double bed (great if your travelling with friends), and there are these hooks in the walls that you can use to hang a hammock, or in our case we made an indoor washing line!
The lounge room has a nice modern flatscreen tv and sound system with a USB Input - handy! Theres a large comfy corner sofa, which makes it feel very homely. The high speed internet was awesome, great for (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) users and people who are planning their next steps!
There is a washing machine in the back garden, but we couldn't get it to work - that was a downside.
The weekly cleaner, Carmen was extremely thorough. She literally cleans every surface, every cupboard, the fridge, the fans and door frames each time she comes. She would spend 3 hours and was extremely trustworthy.
The lady looking after the keys, Vilma is lovely. Neither her or Carmen speak much English (this accommodation is in locals territory), but they try hard. I found it easier to learn the phrases I needed (thanks (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Translate) and talk spanish!
Overall we highly recommend Francisco's apartment in Santa Fe. If we were ever returning to the area for another long stay, we'd definitely stay again.
