The "Purple Room," as I call it, is great for business travelers, as it is close to downtown, the freeway, and the major employers in the area. The room looks out over my beautiful garden, with redwoods, flowering trees and the occasional sighting of my dog. The bed is, indeed, very comfy and the room is relaxing and peaceful. You will have access to the living room, with piano if you play, a lovely garden, and the dining room, where, Nespresso, tea and coffee supplies are available 24/7.
THE PURPLE ROOM:
Friends and family who have stayed at my colorful, relaxed home always appear in the morning crowing about my beds. Honest. I love when they say they haven't slept that well in years. I really try to have a comfortable house and I think I do.
My house is the Crescent Park neighborhood and is supremely well located for Stanford affiliated guests as well as business travelers. I am close to downtown and to all freeway access to other Silicon Valley locations. I am well situated for reaching the major employers of the area.
Mine is a cheerful, eclectic, lively home, with a variety of pretty garden areas, a wonderful dog and, for lack of a better term, good energy. It's approximately three miles from Stanford University. The neighborhood is a lovely place to walk, with gorgeous trees and interesting houses.
As a host, I will respect your desired level of interaction. If you want to just come and go, without being bothered, that's fine with me. If you want to chat occasionally, I am happy to do so.
I am a Stanford graduate (1978) and 30-year resident of Palo Alto. So I can give you tips about where to eat, hike, shop. And where not to.
The bedroom has a full-sized bed. So, depending on your familiarity with your traveling partner, one or two can fit. Shared bath if there is a renter in the room next to it. (But generally I don't rent that room) Private bath if there isn't. The room also has cable tv, a small writing desk and a large armchair.
For more than two people, pending availability, I have another guest room that links from this listing: Private & Cozy Garden Room. For more than two people, you would need to take more rooms. (www.airbnb.com/rooms/214303)
My spacious living room - with its large couch and cozy reading chair - will be made available for you to relax in privately. If you're a pianist, you'd be welcome to use the Kawai parlor grand. Guests will also have a garden courtyard space to themselves, which is quiet and serene.
My house and your room are clean and nicely appointed. Soft linens, fresh flowers occasionally and garden views await you. Renters staying for a week have light kitchen privileges and some space in the refrigerator.
You'll love my house. Besides the mattresses, the other things friends and family always say is "I feel like I'm on vacation when I'm here." So, take a vacation.....
My house is large, so guests get to enjoy a large percentage of it. But I also like to keep my family areas separate and ask that guests not spend time in the rooms and gardens I have allotted for myself. Guests have their own entrance that leads right to their room.
Guests will have limited access to the kitchen but are invited to use the living room, dining room and courtyard garden whenever they like. The dining room always has an electric kettle set up, Nespresso, and an array of teas and instant coffee available. Both the garden and the living room have comfortable seating and are peaceful places to hang out.

I pretty much leave guests alone and let them come and go. I like my private space so set clear boundaries within the house. That said, however, longer term renters will have light kitchen use and we will usually overlap at the kitchen island occasionally. I am always available, however, to answer questions or help in any way I can. And I often do nice little things for people, invite them to dinner or holiday meals, offer them my bikes for an excursion, pick them up when it's raining or they are tired.
Другие важные подробности
I have a friendly Labrador retriever, Apollo. I often have friends over for dinner but we aren't noisy nor do we use the spaces allotted for guests. My home is very special to me and I love it. And I love sharing it with others who appreciate its eclectic design and calm.
Please, no long showers. We have an ongoing drought here and I ask guests to be extremely efficient in their water use. Please no loud TV late at night. No loud conversations on your cellphone in public guest areas. Must like dogs. No drugs, no smoking. Please don't ask to do your laundry. And please don't work at home during the day if you are someone who needs to be on the phone constantly. I work at home and need quiet and privacy.
I ask that guests be mindful of conserving electricity and water.
