Priv rm has own toilet/shower in shared home. Birdsong in morning; star view &coyote song at nt. Share kitchen/dining rm, patio, living rm, piano& accordion with ski resort workers &guests. Central location, walk to woods, restaurants, Grocery Outlet &bars. Pets welcome. 420 & LGBT friendly.

Queen bed now. Or 2 Single beds fit alternatively or additional dbl size futon. Cozy & quiet. Fall asleep to coyote song. Spectacular starry sky view from old vinyl patio couch. (You may have to untarp patio furniture, even shovel snow to use patio and fire pit or wood burning stove outside in winter.)

Walk to wooded trails, Grocery Outlet, College Campus, restaurants and bars. Bike to beach (in summer.) Play piano and accordion. If hotel sterility and polish is what you're looking for, please don't book my place just to cancel or give bad review. This is like when you stay at your high school friend's grama's house in the basement. (unless said grama is rich. This is low income grama in Chicago or Detroit. ie busted door molding, unpainted drywall patches, stained carpet, holes in wall from doorknob opening over-exhuberantly, etc. This room clean and cozy, but kitchen and living room is how you & housemates choose to keep it. I drive down from Portland to clean, be home, actively host &work at Homewood as often as possible. Sorry if I miss your visit while I open my home to you. I have more time to chat, show my favorite hikes, ski with you, go out for drinks and dinner, make friends in the winter.

SHOES OFF AT THE DOOR PLEASE. There is a kitchen/laundry/dining rm, living rm, patio and propane bbq, to share with other guests.PLEASE PARK WHERE ASKED, to avoid pissing off neighbors.

This room is also available to book 1/2 of, if you are social enough to share dorm style with strangers and want to save $$. Double listed as "Purple Room--first dibs on best bed."

Access to rest of home includes kitchen, living room, patio, laundry, piano, and bathroom. I come clean it at least every 6 weeks, much more during ski season, but this is your bathroom. Its your job to clean up after yourselves, or live in your own squalor if you don't, til I come be your mom. I'm sorry if its dirty on arrival. I do my best scheduling my work to avoid that. If you book last minute, its harder to avoid. Usually you start with a clean bathroom, but its your responsibility to help maintain it. Speak up if there is a problem. (Many ski resort workers are here on their first jobs, first time away from mama, or have servants at home in Latin America, Europe, S. Africa, Japan, Singapore, NZ & Australia. Be kind, show them how its done, or let me know who I need to show.)

Please park where specifically asked to avoid pissing off neighbors. Shoes off please in the house, all the time. Your friends too please.

Общение с гостями

You have your own private bathroom & shower, so use the shared bathroom/shower/tub with tolerance please. Share rest of home including kitchen, living room, patio, laundry, piano, & shared bathroom with tub with a grain of salt.

Call me with any questions or problems. Otherwise you may not see me, if you miss my visit. However, please plan to interact with incoming guests; that is the point of me opening my home to a variety of people, sharing communal spaces. Please pool resources such as sober designated driver or Lyft/Uber, be generous with your cooking, beer & wine. I hope you'll make life long travel friends, and therefore return carpooling from the bay. Pardon resort workers if they may be self interested & oblivious to you. Ski season is our busiest funnest season. We work & play hard, often passing out in our wet uniform to rise before the sun to catch the bus &do it all again. Please enjoy the solitude of your private bedroom if so, and consider it bonus if you get a word out of them.

Please park where specifically asked to avoid pissing off neighbors. Keep dab rigs & use of that crap & incense in your own room. Tobacco products strictly prohibited. Bongs, splifs ok in livingroom and patio, if you clean up your crumbs and resin fastidiously, but no tobacco blunt wraps please. Shoes off at the door please. Please help sweep the foyer and vacuum the living room often, especially if you have a pet. Expect to sign a lease about this stuff upon arrival.

Please take your shoes off at door to save beige carpet. Please separate your trash and take it out on Wed. morning if you're around. Shoes off in house please. Do dabs in own room only, not the living room. Keep that sticky black resin from your pipes and bongs off the common shared tables and sinks. Quiet after 11p, unless playing piano & carrying on with other guests, in that case party on all night. Partying with local friends, do at their place or bars. Don't alienate other guests, be actively inclusive. No overdrunkeness please. Be considerate and mindful of all other guests and neighbors. Don't let the dogs out unless you are watching them closely. Don't let coyotes eat my dog. Please sort trash. No tampons or sanitary napkins, wet wipes in toilet. There is a paper sack under sink in bathroom for that stuff, or use kitchen trash. Kind consideration and tolerance of LGBT, pet and 420 friendly lifestyles.

No TVs or shoot em up video games. Shows or movies on small laptop in own room ok. Rpgs or other quiet puzzle video games like tetras, or indie "Ludum Dare" type or VR games ok in own room. But no loud shoot em ups, horror films or Cardashian type "reality" show watching or video games in routine. Certainly not in common areas of kitchen, living room or patio. I prefer to live with and host birds of same feather who choose books, board games, music, art, cooking, sharing, quiet or socializing over tv and video games.

If you have a dog: You must make arrangements for it to be let out, walked etc during the day while you work full time. No dog shall be cooped up for longer than 7 hrs at my place. Really, I'd prefer it be let out every 5 hrs minimum. That is simply humane in my opinion. This is a communal guest home meant for pooling resources. Ask your housemates to help with your dog. Pay them if you must.

Cleaning: Help with general house maintenance. Cleaning your own dish is not enough. Everyone puts wear and tear on the home by being there and using it. Please contribute to regular vacuuming, sweeping, countertop & stovetop wiping, toilet cleaning, tub scrubbing, mantel dusting, snow shoveling, patio tarping etc. If you are paying monthly rates, you are expected to help keep the place in good order for ourselves and for presentation to those paying nightly or weekly rates. This means cleaning up after one another if need be, not going to bed leaving the place a shambles even if its not "your" mess. Take pride, responsibility and stewardship in "your" (our) home.
Call or text me (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) at any time of day or night with questions or concerns. Don't expect long term guests to host you. It is a do it yourself experience.

Annie is incredibly sweet and I would gladly stay here again. She was very generous with everything in her home and made us feel like family and not just guests. Her and her partner are also great conversation partners, and I enjoyed getting to know them personally! If you're considering staying here during your time in Tahoe, definitely go for it!

A door requires room to swing open. There wouldn't have been room for all 3 of you with a door on bathroom. Curtain, though less privacy than most westerners are used to, is much more space efficient. Learned that in Thailand. I bet they do it in India too. A sliding door would be cool. But there are so many other improvements I'd rather spend the dough on. Hope to see you guys again soon!

Annie was so helpful on my move in day. She showed me my room and made me feel at home in a new town. She suggested many amazing place to visit in Tahoe! The purple room is one of the best rooms in the house! It is clean and comfortable. Its not like staying in a cold, bland hotel it's like staying at your grandma's house! Warm and full of love and care! The purple room is private but it was nice to have a living room to hangout in a socialize with other guest! Not to mention the location of the house itself! There are tons of amazing place to eat at! Its not too close to the city so there isn't tons of annoying traffic but you are still only 5 minute from the gorgeous lake! I stayed in the purple room for two months and absolutely LOVED it! Whether you are staying long term or just for a few nights I highly suggest any room in Annine's house!

Great cheap place if you want to crash for a day or two. I stayed there with a male friend. Room for 3 people. Private bathroom too but it doesn't have a door.

I feel curtain is sufficient. It takes up less space than a door that needs room to swing open. I learned this trick from traveling in SE Asia & Europe where more people live together in smaller quarters than is usual here. Privacy is more awkward but people traveling together sharing bedrooms tend to have tolerance & familiarity enough with one another to develop patterns of considerate accommodating behavior. The bathroom shared among strangers down the hall has a door.

Fairly close to what was described, but my experience included: - Bathroom garbage (which was a paper grocery bag) wasn't empty and included used feminine products - Several old toilets sitting outside the back window from the room - Lack of proper bedding Host was very nice and I don't believe she is trying to deceive anyone, it was just a little rougher than I expected.

The toilets I saved from getting dumped in landfill by friends doing construction on a hotel. Habitat for Humanity in Reno is grateful for them but doesn't pick up this far away. Transmission on my truck is busted so it is a project to deliver myself. Working on it. I like the idea of letting guests handle some of their own upkeep & maintenance to keep costs low for everyone. That way I can manage my place myself & not hire out for cleaning which would double & triple my costs & therefore prices. I bought new sheets & pillows to accommodate full Memorial weekend bookings, while I ran up to Oregon to care for & pick up my mom. Something got lost in translation with the different guests coming & going. Sometimes things go smoother. I'm learning how to make it so more often. Best solution so far is just being here, doing it myself, which is what I prefer anyway. The travel back & forth is hard & costly, but really the same as hiring the work out. I keep trying to delegate, because I often need to be 2 places same time. Have tried people on work/ stay exchange, tried paying locals cash, many long term guests volunteer. But so far, I keep coming back to old adage, "want it done right? I gotta do it myself." I want to be a more effective impactful host & manager though, sharing ideals of self sufficiency & socio economic inclusion. Oh well, sometimes I'm spot on, other times not so much. It's getting more & more consistent & improved quality as time goes on since I started last August. Then it was no utilities, hot water or electricity, a micro step up from "glamping."

Comfy little room. Cozy and warm with a private bath - could use a bit nicer mattress and pillows but great deal for the price.

I love snow. But I guess I love my mom more. That's why I'm in Oregon 1/2 the time caring for her. I've been living a dual life last 2 1/2 years as a snowboard instructor in Tahoe and an in home caregiver for elderly and disabled people of Oregon. Airbnb has enabled this lifestyle by helping me share my 2 homes with guests to offset the costs of upkeeping them both. I sort of blew it up big time last summer in Tahoe. Hosting became a full time job for me and a little side gig for a few friends in both locations helping me. I had tents with real beds, RVs, buffet breakfast outside on patio. It was super fun. But politics in Tahoe forced me to "snooze" my Tahoe listings for now unfortunately, and turn my efforts elsewhere. Luckily I have enough friends and return guests there to keep my mortgage paid. I plan to spend my "off season" (May-Nov) this year, mostly in Portland with my girlfriend. Whether I keep my Reedsport apt. during the whole summer has yet to be decided. It makes visiting my mom there a lot easier. She has COPD and a touch of dementia. Its tough to stay at her place for very long. We get along a lot better when I can go home to my own place down the street from her to sleep and concentrate on other work. If Airbnb guests keep booking it, just enough to help cover costs and the effort & stress of keeping it paid, I'll keep it til Nov.
My house in Tahoe has been my rock of gibraltar for over 15 years enabling me a free spirited lifestyle, providing me a home base from which to explore other places and jobs, always having it to call "home" and come back home to. The seasonal nature of the Tahoe job market has always been a challenge, "poverty with a view." It does provide decent minimum wage jobs to come home to, like restaurants in summer and ski resorts in winter. I love teaching snowboarding and skiing at Sierra-At-Tahoe every winter. That has been a constant in my gypsy lifestyle for the last 7 years and many more to come. They treat me sooo swell with so much respect and kind consideration for my unique personal struggles. I hope to someday visit its now sister resort Stevens Pass in WA. It is equidistant to Reedsport in the opposite direction than Tahoe, but a long haul. I'd like to try Idaho resorts too. I drive back and forth between Tahoe and Oregon at least every 6 weeks. Please join me sometime, carpooling or just visiting either location. Welcome home! My motto? "Where ever you go, there you are."---Buckaroo Banzai ('80's movie.)
