My wife and I live on Big Oak Ridge, an experimental natural farm located in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in beautiful Venango County Pennsylvania. The property includes two houses.
The Bowman House at Big Oak Ridge is our guesthouse - a full house which is available for booking by travelers to the area.
We love to bike, kayak, hike, and just spend time on our farm. "Experimental, Sustainable, Reproducible" is the motto at Big Oak Ridge. We like to try new things, and if they work we like to share them with others. Having a guest house allows us to offer the things we're learning to a wider audience. We are Christian Libertarian nature loving Locavorians (eating mainly what is grown/produced within 100 miles of our home.) We offer seminars at our farm on sustainable natural agriculture, food preservation, cheesemaking, and other topics - generally these seminars are offered in conjunction with the cadence of life on the farm. If you come to visit us, and there is something you'd like to learn about, let us know - we'll try to accomodate you.
Our farm is biodiverse; when you stay on the farm you are surrounded by gardens, goats, chickens, and woods. Wildlife is also abundant.
