We arrived just after 8:30 p.m., Patou and her sweet pooch Playa, were there to greet us. The marina road is quite packed with cars, and there is no private parking (not as described). BUT, within a few minutes, and following the "local ways" of parking, we had no trouble at all getting a close space each day. If you are not familiar or comfortable with boat conditions, you should not stay here. If you seek simplicity, intimacy and enjoy the elements, this is the ideal way to experience Guadeloupe. Even though we were surrounded by restaurants, we preferred our eves in the spacious cockpit, staring at stars, enjoying the breeze and quick bursts of rain, listening to the activity around the marina, (not annoying at all-we were amused by the 70s & 80s dance tunes, and some nights were quiet). My honey is 6'3" and he could stand up straight in the salon, it's very spacious (he did of course bump his head sometimes moving between the pit and salon ha!). The berth/sleeping quarters are comfortable - we really slept like babies every night, and it wasn't because of too much rum! With the winds, the boat has a very gentle rock. It's lovely. The boat is equipped with all appliances and the wifi worked great. The head is...well a head. It is perfectly functional. We never used the boat shower, preferring the short walk to the marina facilities (bring TP when you go, and the key to the women's room didn't work - Patou was going to test it. The facility isn't always locked, and I used the men's shower when it was). Be sure to bring plenty of bottled water. There isn't an official marina trash disposal (if you have a car you can deposit recyclables at a station), but it's not a big deal. If you look around you can toss it into an apartment complex bin (though we didn't see them, we were advised that is what to do. We only had two small bags of trash for 5 days and Patou said just to leave them). Patou is a celebrity-she's convivial and attentive, and she owns a day excursion business. You MUST do the excursion to Petite Terre. We absolutely loved it, especially because the boat is smaller than the other tours. You will have a blast! The captain Nico is a true gem. He takes you on a snorkel tour, makes and serves a fab lunch (seriously amazing - ceviche, fish kabobs, grilled bananas with chocolate and rum. Oh, the rum cocktails, coco rum and special coffee!). Our little group got on so well, we belly laughed from the time we checked in through the post-trip farewell drink. Just writing this makes me want to do our trip to Guadeloupe all over again. Merci Patou! We will be back and bring you oysters! Grosses Bises from Gloucester, Massachusetts! A la prochaine!
