Have been living in İstanbul for six years now and have been enjoying it a lot!
I am living alone in a 2 bedroom apartment located on the ground floor of a building which is close to 4.Levent metro station. The apartment is new and clean (2 years old) which is very hard to find in the city center. You are welcome to use fully furnished with all the necessary domestic appliances and electronic goods. Iron and ironing board, hair dryer, fresh linens, washing machine / dryer, dishwasher, DVD, vacuum cleaner, hi-speed wireless internet, central heating, cookware and kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery, gas cooking hob, oven, kettle, toaster, fridge / freezer. The room that I am renting out is fully furnished (real bed, desk, wardrobe and mini bar).Clean towels and bed sheets will be provided upon your arrival. 24 hours hot water. The flat is heated well and get cleaned regularly. Feel free to use whatever you need during your stay! There are many shops, markets, banks,pharmacies,restaurant and coffe shops around the house. They are open till late nights.
I have two alternatives for my guests, a room with a single real bed and another room is the living room which has a 2 sofa bed. These sofa beds can be open and suitable for 2 person on 1 sofa bed. You are totally free in your own room.
I will give you a Istanbul Kart for public transportation facilities (the economic way).
You can use subway or bus in order to go to the everywhere in Istanbul as well as tourist attractions and ancient buildings. 6 minutes’ walk to 4.Levent metro stop / Sapphire. There is variety of options for shopping through to the metro line.
These are the touristic attractions at walking distance with order:
1 min - Bus station, grocery, supermarket, restaurants, pharmacy, bakery, internet cafe/call shop, dry cleaner. In addition, the place has an exciting opportunity to discover the real local Turkish culture/life. Especially the neighborhood, local shops, grocery, very cheap price food options.
3 Metro Stops Away - Nisantasi. Lots of high end and mid range shops to choose and very good quality restaurants. None of the locals advises to come here as this area carries an expensive elite area status, but it is totally affordable for anyone from Europe.. It has also featured in many films.
3 Metro Stops Away - Macka Park, fresh green area, sometimes it might be good to take a fresh air in this huge city.
4 Metro Stops Away - Welcome to Taksim Square, not only centre of Istanbul, its the centre of Turkey! This colourful street is world famous and provides a glimpse of all of Istanbul's many tribes and fashions.
4 Metro Stops Away - Istiklal Street. Where the city's heart beats. Everything is on this street; shopping malls, food, bars, clubs, rooftop venues, embassies, theaters, cinemas, anything comes to your mind.
4 Metro Stops Away - Galata Tower. This 1500 year old giant has a 360 degree city view, must see.
4 Metro Stops Away - Eminonu & Karakoy Districts. The area is among the busiest places in Istanbul and housing some of the most visited sites such as Egyptian Market, Ferry ports for Bosphorus and Asia, Galata Bridge, The New Mosque and the main bus station for Golden Horn area. The tram leading to Taksim via Kabatas passing through the site and also there is a subway connection from Karakoy to Galata at site. Zlfaris Synagogue (Jewish Museum of Turkey) is found in Karakoy too. Fish&Bread selling boats by the ports in Eminonu offer a cheap and delicious option for a quick meal.
4 Metro Stops Away - Istanbul Modern Art Museum. The museum is an independent, artist run museum established in Istanbul in 1997. It is the oldest contemporary art museum in Istanbul. Located by the cruise port of Istanbul, the museum also has a restaurant with a view of Bosphorus.
5 Metro Stops Away - Egyptian Market. The Spice Bazaar is one of the largest bazaars in the city. It is the second largest covered shopping complex after the Grand Bazaar. A bustling gastronomic paradise since 1664, this is the best place to pick up dried fruits and nuts, spices, olives, Turkish delight, oils and essences of the finest order.
6 Metro Stops Away - Topkapi Palace Museum. The residance of Ottoman Sultans until 18th century and the most significiant symbol of the Empire. Today, it is serving as a museum where the Treasury of Empire and other important heritage such Sacred Relics, Chinese porcelains, weapons, garments are exhibited. Harem section of Palace is also unique to visit.
6 Metro Stops Away - Blue Mosque. Built in the 17th century, Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Mosque) is one of the master works of Ottoman Architect. It is located in the center of Old Town right across to Hagia Sophia Museum. Insideof the Mosque is decoreted with some of the best examples of Turkish tiles in blue and green colours.
6 Metro Stops Away - Basilica Cistern (10 minutes on walk) : The main water source of Constantinople used as a cistern for centruies. The interior has a fascinating atmosphare standing upon marble columns derived from ancient temples.
6 Metro Stops Away - Hagia Sophia Museum. Hagia Sophia Museum built in the 6th century was the Imperial Church of Byzantine Empire and converted to a Mosque after the conquest of Constantinople. It is one of the most important monuments of Antiquity and unique for housing the symbols of Christianity and Islam within one unit.
6 Metro Stops Away - Grand Bazaar. Grand Bazaar is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with 61 covered streets and over 3,000 shops  which attract between 250,000 and 4(phone number hidden)sitors daily. The main objects of shopping are jewelery, leather, ceramics and rugs. It deserves to spend a half day in the Bazaar.
You can go to Bogazici university (15 minutes by bus), Istanbul Technical ITU (2 stops by metro), Yıldız Technical (15 minutes by bus).
