Blue is a 3 bedroom 3 bath dedicated vacation rental that was renovated in 2014. It was originally built in the 1990's for use as a textile arts studio. I employed eco-friendly construction materials and methods in the renovation of this building--ask me about them! The home is situated on four acres, which also contains a barn and a main house that were both originally built in the 1840's, as well as a pond, a stream, and a pretty nice chunk of woods. The whole house sleeps 6-10 people. Each of the 3 bedrooms has an en suite bath, king sized bed, daybed, flat screen TV (cable + HBO), DVD player, high speed wifi access, and air conditioning. There are views of the pond, little island, woods, and the Catskill Mountains from each room. The downstairs features a wonderful open plan common space. This includes a kitchen with countertop made from a gigantic tulip poplar that was chopped down in the village and milled on the outskirts of town. Perfect housing for HITS participants, skiers of Hunter Mountain and Windham Mountain, as well as city dwellers wanting to retreat into nature. Bluestone patio, custom fire pit and combination charcoal/gas grill are all yours!
Each of the three rooms in this home has an electronic key pad code-activated dead bolt. Guests have access to the common area, which includes an open plan kitchen living and dining area, as well as the washer and dryer on the second floor hall. You may grill outside on the bluestone patio, use the fire pit, and also explore the entire property, excluding the areas immediately surrounding the other house. Pond, stream, island, and woods are yours to enjoy!

Orpheum Theater in Saugerties was built in the early 1900's and has always been a theater--think Vaudeville (how cool is that?). Don't miss out on our historic lighthouse. There is so much to explore in this area, and I can certainly point you in various directions, depending on your tastes. Here are some of my favorite restaurants: Miss Lucy's Kitchen, Black-Eyed Susan's, Slices, Love Bites, The Garden Cafe, The Bear Cafe, Catskill Rose, Phoenicia Diner, and Oriole 9. There are so many historic tours in this area. I recommend Montgomery Place if you only have time for one. We also have a lot of festivals and events like the annual Sawyer's Motors Car Show in early July or the annual Holiday in the Village in December. All summer, Saugerties has a food truck event the third Thursday of the month. Bard College and Bearsville Theater regularly host cultural events. There are many shops and barn sales with loads of antiques. Grab a local paper and check out what's happening!
-Please treat this property as you would your own home.
-I'm sorry, but I cannot accommodate pets or smoking in the house.
-If you bring children, please attend to them, especially around the water.
-Cleaning up after yourself in the kitchen is polite to the other guests, but not necessary if you are the only ones in the house.
-Composting and recycling are encouraged, but only recycling is necessary. There is a stainless steel food scrap container on the counter. The composter is behind the barn, visible from the kitchen. Recycling is single stream, so no need to worry about separating metals from papers, etc., just throw it all in the bin next to the trash, without a bag!
-Please keep noise to a reasonable level.
