I live in the home but work 8-5 in town. We are a relaxed country house which guests tell me seems more like a B&B you would encounter in europe and when I'm home sat and sun I will cook your breakfast. I enjoy meeting and conversing with guests, I'm very social but would never intrude on your privacy if you preferred less interaction with me or other guests There are only two airbnb rooms in my home . My goal is to have you enjoy your stay with us and perhaps want to return again. I appreciate every airbnb guest who stays with me.

We are 30 minutes from Morehead City, 15 minutes from Harkers Island where the ferry to Cape Lookout National Seashore is.
Quiet time after 11...other than that we are pretty laid back and relaxed I have two grandchildren that visit so we have toys and other items ..high chair, pac n play , bassinet , child gates . We have one lab that guard the chicken pens at night as we have a fox and coyote problem but they are outdoor dogs and. I do allow guests to bring pets, as we have two dogs and two cats ,sometimes it takes a bit of juggling to get a new dog or cat upstairs, but I do my best to work with all my guests. I love animals, My dogs are neutered gentle animals and I have enjoyed meeting my guest pets. We ask however that you keep your pet leashed in our backyard as our chickens , geese ,and peacocks roam free. I don't want and of my birds to be chased or injured. My home is people, child and pet friendly , I enjoy meeting people and try and treat everyone like family, we don't have a ton of rules and being the mother of two and grandmother of three I'm pretty relaxed and laid back with children. We have a great playroom stocked with toys that children enjoy. I think my reviews and super host status speak for how special my home is and how important my guests comfort and happiness is to me.

I am a dental hygienist employed in Morehead City which is about 35 miles from my home. I was born in Westchester County, New York and moved to North Carolina in 2000. My husband, Terrell Gould is the owner-operator of the Carolina Princess, a 100 foot head boat that takes people out for fishing day trips. The Carolina Princess is located on the Morehead City waterfront and has a web site to use if you are interested in going fishing with Captain Terrell. We do offer our guests a discounted fishing ticket. Our house is a large plantation colonial set on the banks of Sleepy Creek which is an inlet of the Core Sound. Our road Sleepy Point Road is a quiet dead end road with very little traffic. Our home has no neighbors on either side and is very secluded. We are in the country 30 minutes from Beaufort and 40 minutes from Morehead City. There are not a lot of dining options in Gloucester , we have a few pizza take out places and in Harkers Island two restaurants , The Captains Choice and The Fish Hook both are good but for really fine dining Beaufort is the closest. I don't want anyone to come here and be shocked that we are in the country, its peaceful and quiet and beautiful..I think my reviews and super host status speak for themselves, that said Beaufort in only 30 minutes away with plenty of nightlife. While we do live in this home it is large enough so the two bedrooms with porches available seem very private. My upstairs hall is large with the guests bedrooms on the opposite side of the house . I look at hosting as a way of meeting new and interesting people. A few years ago I took a trip to Tuscany, Italy and rented a home from a wonderful gentleman. This man would stop in from time to time and was so warm , funny and welcoming we didn't want him to leave .......I try to be that type of host and to treat people exactly the same way that I would want to be treated if I were the guest. One of the challenges of hosting is being friendly without intruding on a guests privacy. The house and backyard are big enough for private time. My favorite thing to do here is sit in the chaise facing the water and read, but there are beaches and countryside to explore if you prefer a more active vacation. I have three kayaks available for guests to use free of charge. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen or outdoor grill . Both bedrooms now have dorm size refrigerators useful for chilling any beverages you may bring or storing a doggie bag from dinner. I provide a wine opener, an ice bucket and glasses in your room. You will also find an immersion heater for tea, tea bags , fresh ground coffee, and a coffee pot for those who prefer a slow start to your morning in your room. Our guest rooms do not have a television but there is a separate TV room downstairs. I love to cook and we do provide a full breakfast of free range eggs from my chickens, my home made bread, fresh squeezed juice, regular or decaf coffee and fruit. If there is anything special you prefer to have please let me know, many of our guests are vegetarians and I'm more than happy to accommodate this. I have developed a number of dals, bean and brown rice recipes for my vegetarians , even those who are egg and dairy free. I have gluten free bread in the freezer and I enjoy cooking and meeting the challenge of my guests dietary preferences. Monday through Friday I leave at 7:00 a.m. so I put things out for you to prepare on your own. I always make a big pot of coffee and have almond milk, whole milk and heavy cream available. I have assorted tea along with all the breakfast fixings in the refrigerator. I do provide snacks in your room and feel free to let me know of any food allergies you may have. Children and pets are welcome( no extra charge) and are usually fascinated by the free range chickens and geese. We also have two resident peacocks named Thomas and Thelma along with Edna and William the goats . William has been neutered and is tame and they have a pen that they stay in however they do enjoy coming out in the evening for "goat happy hour". I feel a society is judged by how it treats its weakest and most defenseless members, animals. It is very easy to look away when an opportunity arises to adopt a homeless animal. Turning an animal away is not easy, therefore, I have two rescues who have made this their home. Our family of dogs consist of a Labrador mix, Skye and Dukie a small terrier . Skye is mainly outdoors and holds court on the porch watching the chickens and geese during the day,her job is to guard them at night. They are all sweet friendly dogs who adore my grandchildren. We also have a cat, Mr. Evil who comes in and out during the day. Guests are welcome to bring pets and my dogs are pretty laid back and enjoy meeting visitors animal or human. Since my chickens , geese and peacocks roam free I do ask that your pets stay leashed when you are around my birds...Its the rare dog who will not give chase to a chicken, goose or peacock and may cause unintentional injury to them . My own dogs are conditioned to my birds and ignore them and Skye sleeps on the front porch at night to protect them from predators. I keep a pack-n-play, safety gates , infant bassinet and a pile of toys in a separate toy room as my grandchildren visit often. My personal style is relaxed country, the furniture is well worn by a now second generation of children and the house is full of many books and magazines that you are welcome to borrow. For the beach I have sand chairs, coolers , beach towels, a beach umbrella, totes and children's beach toys. There is also a crab pot if you are inclined to toss it out. Sleepy Creek is a pristine estuary teeming with fish, crabs and oysters. It is a calm shallow body of water although with the number of oysters not good choice for swimming. We also have an outdoor shower that come in handy after arriving back from the beach covered with sand. In the summer time I install an above ground pool the Intex variety that I take down in the winter . Regarding House Bill 2, we welcome people of all races, religions and sexual orientations with acceptance and tolerance for all. The house is furnished in an eclectic country style that is child, people and pet friendly. I love fresh cut flowers in my home and I am partial to classical music. I encourage my guests to make themselves at home and have tried to make my home a warm welcoming space so that my guests can relax and enjoy their vacation. My home has hosted two casual country weddings for about 50 people. The back yard is large enough to support a large party tent and the kitchen, great room , entry and two additional large rooms downstairs facilitate an easy flow of people. The fee for the use of property is $1,500.00 and includes my assistance in planning the wedding for the month prior to as well as lodging in my two bedrooms and two private bathrooms that accommodate four people for two nights. I also will be on site that day to help as needed. This fee includes service only, no materials, for example me checking on the cake , flowers, caterer , photographer .. to make sure things are as you planned and helping out with whatever on the wedding day. I look forward to meeting you and making your stay with us special. My guests have all left stating their stay has been the most laid back, relaxing and quiet they have ever experienced. I hope to pass that on to you as well. Come visit the Sleepy Creek at Gloucester House and like us at Gloucester House at Sleepy Creek on .
