I am a retired British diplomat, who speaks French, German and Russian. I have lived and worked in several European countries. We bought our house in a small village in a rural area of the south of France, close to the pre-Alps, because we love walking in the hills (I am from Scotland). We are also close to the coast and the culture centres of Antibes, Nice, St Tropez and others.
