The island is beautiful, but with very steep hills anywhere you need to walk - keep that in mind as the listing is uphill from the Port, and also uphill from Corricella, in the other direction. Much of the island is like this so it is just something to be prepared for. The apartment was within walking distance from the port, Corricella, a small beach, some restaurants, a piazza, & a church. The high location of the house provided an amazing view from our bedroom, kitchen, and living room and there are terraces in every room. I thought it was listed as having A/C, but I see it is not anymore - there was a unit in the center hallway, but it was very high up and we weren't provided a remote to use it. We were provided a standing fan, which was some help from the heat of July. Antonio met us out in front and showed us the apartment which was beautiful and clean. He provided us a small map of the island and pointed out a few key spots. On the map were things like beaches, supermarkets, (URL HIDDEN) we used that when we had to go to the store. - It would have been much more helpful however, if we had been informed by Antonio that there was a small market literally just around a bend (When we went to the markets on the map, it was a long uphill hike back to the apartment. When we ran out of toilet paper - as we had to use to for both toilet paper and napkins since TP was all that was provided, instead of giving us more, he told us to go to the market around the corner to buy some. I was very surprised by this as I feel a host, whether personal or a hotel, should at least provide toilet paper - even if you need more than they originally anticipated). To use the WiFi, you have to be on the terrace of the bedroom that has a twin size bed, because you are using the wifi from his house across the street and it doesn't reach anywhere else in the apartment. Nice to have it, but not very convenient as I would have liked to have access with a table to sit at with my laptop, or from the bedroom while I had a view of the sea. We were able to get hot water for some showers, but not for others on different days. Antonio remembered my request for a second set of keys, which I appreciated, but he didn't check that they worked and when we told him we couldn't get he seemed frustrated by it, but did relax more when he realized that the keys weren't cut properly and gave us a new set. He provided beach towels, which was appreciated. The neighborhood was beautiful and felt safe.
