A small paradise hidden in the heart of Lyon. From this perfect location in the idyllic old quarter, you can appreciate the calm of a charming garden terrace with a beautiful panoramic view stretching from the old red rooftops to the distant Alps.
You can relax and enjoy the romance of this quiet secluded spot in the heart of Vieux Lyon. I've been living in this little house since May 2014 and am thrilled to have discovered this peaceful haven which awaits you once you've abandoned the hustle and bustle of the city's streets.
After entering the property from the street through a Renaissance door, you climb step by step up a spiral staircase which leads you to what could be described as a rustic cottage, set into the hillside with its very own countryside charm. The small quiet garden with its own vegetable patch, a table and deck chairs and a shed help you to forget that you are living in the centre of a busy city.
The sitting-room includes a large mezzanine, a (working!) fireplace and four large windows which give you a stunning view of the city. The window in the small bedroom looks out into the garden.
No on-looking neighbours, no traffic noise, the only sound you will hear is that of the church bells of St. Jean's cathedral.
A location which whisks you away from the historic centre to the peace of the countryside.
Apart from a couple of cupboards which hold my personal items, guests have access to the whole house and garden. No television, your chance to get away from the glare of the screen!
Другие важные подробности
An important thing to note is that, due to its charmingly secluded location, there are 4 flights of stairs with no lift access. I can assure you that it is definitely worth the climb however.
As the Rue du Boeuf is only for pedestrians you cannot bring a car close to the house.
- Please leave the house as you found it upon entering.
- If you have green thumbs and feel like gardening (and have some idea about how to garden) I would be very happy for you to take care of the vegetable patch and get rid of the weeds.
- please do not touch the watering system for the vegetable patch which is attached to the outside tap to the left of the door.
- It would be a crime not to invite your friends for a barbecue and an aperitif in the garden.
- Please do make yourself at home and enjoy the views.
I invite guests to stay when I am away from Lyon therefore you are unlikely to meet me. However a very good English friend of mine who speaks French and Italian fluently looks after the apartment when I am gone and and will be happy to greet you with the keys and answer any of your questions about the house as well as sharing her knowledge of the city with you.
