This amazing top-floor apartment in the award winning 1960 Ithaca Gardens has everything for the perfect Sydney stay for two people. Stunning views of the harbour, gourmet kitchen, balcony and only steps away from Potts Point dining and shops.
Ithaca Gardens is an amazing community of people who respect and value each other's privacy and quiet enjoyment of the premises. Although the building is virtually soundproof, we expect guests to behave as if they were in their own home and keep late night noise to a minimum. We don't welcome pets. The rules for smoking are simple, because they are set by the building's bylaws. You cannot smoke on the balcony as there are issues with drifting smoke to other residents. There's no smoking anywhere else on the property and the common areas. And when we say that events or parties are allowed - we should be precise. Of course you can have people over for a quiet dinner or drinks. But we can't make our place available for large parties or events - first, it's not really big enough - second, part of the respect we show our neighbours is not having large events. Elizabeth Bay is one of the most densely populated suburbs in Australia - and that's the other reason for no late night parties. It's all about respect and common sense. Other house rules are contained in a guide to our place which will be provided for you on arrival.
With three nationalities and an archive of previous addresses from Montreal, Paris, Amsterdam and San Francisco... I'm now happily installed in Australia. Sydney is my home and nothing makes me happier than to be able to introduce everything about this remarkable place to people who visit me and my partner, Dean.
I'm also crazy about travel - trying to get overseas at least once a year and broaden my experience and horizons. Some people say you are what you eat... well, that's true too - but I think you are where you've lived. I'm passionate about food, music and contemporary culture.
Part of the work I do is based on knowing a bit about all of those things... I work in communications and I've always thought that being aware is the first step to being able to communicate effectively, enthusiastically and energetically about something that's important to you. So, as a host, you can count on me to point you in some of the directions of things that my partner and me find interesting about our part of the world.
We're pretty avid consumers of what Sydney has to offer in the way of dining (which is just amazing) entertainment (which is pretty diverse) and what could be categorised as "the culture" (which gets better and better every year). And we love to share that knowledge and point you in the right direction to make your own discoveries here.
We'll give you a guide to the neighbourhoods where it all happens in Sydney as well as tell you where you can get out of the City to experience the astounding natural beauty of the region. We can describe where you need to go for a totally urban experience, a totally Sydney beach experience or just about any other experience you might want while you visit. And if there's something we can't help you with ourselves, we'll find out for you, we like that sort of thing too.
What are we like as hosts? Well, between us we speak English, French and Italian. And as hosts, we are, well... kind of discreet because we are making our apartment available to you without us here. We have another home just outside the City and spend time there. So, we'll be attentive to your every need while making sure you're left on your own to enjoy and explore Sydney and Australia.
