To ensure that you have the most comfortable, enjoyable and safest stay possible, one that is memorable in a good way, please observe these rules. You probably will not find this level of detail in other listings, but I am a direct, honest guy who prefers to be upfront about these matters to avoid misunderstanding. Almost all guests are great - clean, neat, considerate, respectful and a pleasure to host. I try to keep prices as low as possible, but sometimes this may attract guests whose needs would be better met elsewhere. Please read carefully to make sure our expectations are compatible.
Being a Good Neighbor
Vacation rentals have often caused problems for neighbors, and many cities have responded with regulations. Both Palm Springs and Cathedral City have a noise ordinance that is strictly enforced. Excerpt from the Cathedral City Municipal Code: "No radio receiver, musical instrument, phonograph, compact disk player, loudspeaker, karaoke machine, sound amplifier, or any machine, device or equipment that produces or reproduces any sound shall be used outside or be audible from the outside of any (residence) between ten p.m. and eight a.m." The neighborhood is an oasis of tranquility. This is not a vacation rental for parties. Please keep the volume of any amplified electronics to a reasonable level that does not disturb adjacent neighbors. Please do not bring the party home. Please do not annoy the neighbors by parking in front of their driveway or house.
Being a Considerate Guest
Please shower before using the pool and remove sun tan oil or waterproof lotion. These substances adhere to the sides of the pool and foul the filter and salt system. Please do not use oil-based or silicon-based lubricants as they are extremely difficult to get out of the towels and sheets. Please dispose of condoms and napkins appropriately and do not flush them down the toilet.
Both hosts and guests may be allergic to, and adversely effected by, strong fragrances contained in colognes, perfumes, deodorants and lotions. Please be considerate and avoid using these products during your stay. Even some soaps, shampoos and body washes can contain fragrances that may be overwhelming to sensitive people. If in doubt, please check with the host.
The entire property is smoke free. There is no smoking allowed in the main house, the casita, or outside.
The Cave is not a bathhouse or massage parlor. While your friends are encouraged to visit and socialize in the common areas, visitors in the bedrooms are prohibited. Anyone breaking this house rule will incur a $65 extra guest charge. A day pass to one of the gay resorts is a better alternative. While the massage space is available for guests, it does not include running a massage business during your stay. Please find other accommodations for that activity even if you are a a licensed masseur.
Keeping it Legal
Please note that "generosity" in securing "companionship" to enjoy while on the premises is not allowed. Possession of illegal drugs, federal or state controlled substances, prescription drugs without a prescription, and any "synthetic" or "designer" drugs such as "bath salts", whether legal or not, is prohibited on the premises.
Terminating a Stay
Engaging in any activity that violates any federal, state or local law, rule or regulation is grounds for immediate termination of the guest agreement and removal from the premises and forfeiture of any and all payments and deposits. Guest assumes liability for any fine imposed by Cathedral City for violation of a municipal ordinance. Ignoring house rules and disrespectful or discourteous behavior toward other guests, hosts, or neighbors may result in similar consequences.
