Just refurbished the Old Stables at The Brow is a very spacious stone built 2 bedroom (1 twin, 1 kingsize) property that is both in the countryside with walks and cycling from the door yet just over 15mins drive from Newcastle town centre, with good public transport links too both this city and also Hexham and other popular locations within the Tyne Valley (details below).

Accommodation upstairs comprises two bedrooms, a new bathroom with separate shower and bath, a new open plan kitchen, lounge & dining area. The lounge includes a sofa bed which can accommodate an extra guest on request.

Downstairs is an entrance area with cupboards and a new washing machine, separate dryer and large area suitable for storage of bikes or other large items.

This upstairs apartment can cater for all ages. Parking is in the courtyard between the old stables and the owners main house. The location lends itself to both weekend breaks and longer stays with many attractions located nearby. We are equally flexible for longer stays such as between house moves.

Located conveniently just off the A69 in the small village of Wylam (famous for its railway heritage, fishing and cycling) you are 2 minutes walk from local shops, chemist, post office, excellent pubs and a café. A bus stop is just outside the drive and the train station is a 10 minute walk providing links to Newcastle (20mins) and the Metrocentre (10mins) or historic Hexham and Corbridge.

The bike track along Tyne is immediately accessible. A children's park is 5 minutes walk a way. The river, with many beautiful walks and fishing, is a few minutes walk.Nearby attractions include: George Stephenson's cottage (short walk), Cherryburn, Prudhoe Castle, Close House Golf course. Easily accessible are Northumberland's many attractions such as Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick Castle, and many others see (URL HIDDEN) for (URL HIDDEN) we have just renovated, the flat and area outside is all non smoking. Similarly for others enjoyment we can only allow pets by agreement if they can stay out of the carpeted areas, bedrooms and off furnishings. Travel cot available on request

No smoking anywhere in the property or grounds I am afraid.

We regularly have people coming up to events but we would not normally allow someone to host a party or event there but feel free to email us to discuss.

Pets only by agreement before (this is only possible if they can stay on the non carpeted areas and not in bedrooms or on furniture). This ensures we can keep the accommodation to the high standard it is currently and be able to clean it properly for those allergic to animals.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life The Old Stable is the place to be - quiet, situated not too far from Newcastle Upon Tyne, quality accommodation and friendly host. Will definitely return to this place if I ever come this way!

Lovingly converted spacious apartment. Really appreciated the ample dimensions to all the rooms. Comfortable and well equipped. Being completely detached within the courtyard of the family home gives both guests and owners privacy. Stunning location with walks (for the dog!) literally on doorstep. Lovely village with pretty much everything you'd need from a Spa store to pub lunches. Easy drive/train service into Newcastle (station next door to Camra Pub of the Year!) Highly recommended

More spacious than expected. A bit hard to find from the street as the photo is of the inner courtyard. There was a complete absence of basic kitchen essentials, but this seemed to have been an inadvertent error (and not a deal breaker for our stay). Host was very responsive when wifi seemed to have been turned off. Great hosts and would stay there again. Peaceful, quiet village location.

Lovely well equipped apartment with all the modern facilities. Great location with excellent transportation links. Friendly neighborhood and extremely helpful owners. Great value for money, highly recommended!
