Historic farmhouse offers 35 acres of quiet beauty with fishing pond and row boat. Close access to boating or swimming in Torch Lake, awesome beach and sunsets at Barnes Park, fishing paradise in Chain of Lakes, night life and shopping in Charlevoix.
This 100+ year old, historic farmhouse has everything that you need for a comfortable, relatively "unplugged" stay!
The kitchen is equipped with all you might need to make some wonderful meals: fridge, sink, oven, microwave, pots, pans, mixing bowls, utensils, dishes, cups, mugs. A covered front porch and covered back deck (with grill) provide for additional dining environments.
There are two bedrooms. One has a king bed and the other has two twin beds. The fourth bed is a comfortable, queen sofa pull-out in the living room.
Towels, bedding and firewood are also provided. (Collection of firewood on the property is prohibited, however kindling from small dead branches near pond is ok)
What makes this place truly spectacular is the property on which you have have to roam. This 35 acre property has many places to enjoy and explore. There are several open spaces around the house to lounge, picnic, or play games. There are also two ponds to (URL HIDDEN) close to the house and the other a pleasant 5 minute walk on a well maintained path. Both provide for some rewarding wildlife discoveries. Venture off the well beaten path an apple tree, or berry bush.
While this property is not waterfront, it is located not far from some spectacular places. The north end of Torch Lake is just a couple miles away. Lake Michigan beaches are within minutes of driving. Restaurants, breweries, wineries, farm markets are all within reach for great day trips. Lakes, beaches and hiking opportunities abound!
We are located 15 minutes south of Charlevoix and 20 minutes north of Elk Rapids. Bellaire (home to Short's Brewery) is 20 minutes away. Traverse City is about 30 minutes to our south.
Guests have access to the house and the paths and ponds on the property.. And may use the garage. Guest may use the small row boat on the pond, turning it over so as not to collect rain water for the next guest. Oars stay with the boat or are taken back to the garage

Welcome to the Nienhouse Family Farmhouse:) Jennifer and I are the faces and voices behind the rental, as it is owned and managed by us and our husbands Jon and Eric. Eric and Jon grew up in Michigan and have been coming to this area since they were children (and their parents and grandparents before them). Our two families have been coming to this farmhouse in Northern Michigan since 1996. We love to come here to unplug, get a nice hit of beach and water, and visit with the locals. We love all things outdoors, especially climbing, water sports, camping, biking, and gardening. We also love good stories, good friends, and good food!
