Our large master suite has a private entrance, large attached bathroom with double sinks and separate toilet, and off-street parking. Ideal for 2 adults (+ kids), and a great location from which to visit Seattle/Bellevue -- returning to rest amid the island’s safety, parks and conveniences.
A private, secure, side-door entrance ushers you up the stairs to the entire upper floor of a home in a quiet residential neighborhood less than 2 minutes off I-90 Island Crest exit.
At the top of the stairs, you enter an open and clean master suite with a California king-size bed, a comfortable sitting area which includes a daybed, overstuffed chair and ottoman, and a desk with a garden and evergreen view. If you are travelling with more than two people, the twin daybed converts to a king-size bed with two twin mattresses. The private, attached bathroom is exclusive for your use and has double sinks, a walk-in shower, and a separate water closet. Walk-in closet space is available to hang your clothes. An iron and ironing board are available upon request. You may also use the free wi-fi. For your convenience, in your suite, there is a microwave, mini-fridge and a coffee maker with coffee, tea, milk and sugar. In order to respect your privacy, we do not provide breakfast. The comprehensive Room Guide lists many local restaurants and breakfast places.
You may leave your car in the dedicated, off-street parking spot and enjoy the flexibility of meandering amongst Seattle attractions without paying parking charges.
Guests have exclusive use of the upstairs suite with a private entrance. Our household downstairs is inaccessible.

Upon confirmation and before arrival, you will be given via email the passcode to the secure deadbolt on your private entrance and you can anticipate the room being open and ready for your arrival. This passcode is changed for each guest to ensure your comfort and privacy.
While you have your own private space, this is still a home with kids downstairs. Your hosts are a couple who have traveled extensively, lived and worked abroad, speak multiple languages, and have extensive connections in Seattle’s international, educational, nonprofit, and business community. We are child-friendly, lead active and engaged lives, and will be readily available to answer questions and make suggestions from where to get a good bagel, a three mile jogging route, to what to see in various parts of Greater Seattle and the local area. At the same time, we will respect your privacy and allow you to initiate contact if and as desired.
Другие важные подробности
While you have your own private space, this is still a home with kids downstairs who are generally up by 8 A.M. During the school year, they are out for school at 8:45 A.M.
No smoking on the property and, unfortunately, no pets so that we may keep an allergy free environment for our guests.
This is a quiet, residential neighborhood, and we request that you limit loud noises after 10 PM.
We ask that you avoid showering between midnight and 6 A.M. if possible as the running water and drains can be heard in downstairs bedrooms.
My husband Ian and I have lived in our home for almost 20 years, following years of living and working abroad in Asia and Africa. As short and long-term travelers ourselves, both throughout the US and internationally, we are familiar with guests' needs and questions and enjoy doing all we can to make their visits comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable.
With a young professional son (now living in Canada) and two elementary-aged children, we are very engaged in the Mercer Island community as well as in Seattle where we both worked for decades in the global education field. After leaving our long-held positions as Executive Director for Pacific Village Institute and President/CEO for the Seattle World Affairs Council in 2012, Ian and I together started a family-oriented tech company which we run from Mercer Island. Our professions have been based on building connections between people and cultures, as well as on global issues and opportunities that hold us all in common.
As a family, we spend much time in the outdoors -- gardening, hiking, swimming in the lake, riding bikes or running around local neighborhoods, as well as in our cozy home where we focus on making art, music, reading, cooking and visiting with family and friends.
In addition to English, Ian is fluent in French, and I am proficient but rusty in Mandarin.
