A lovely first floor apartment across the street from the Baten Fisherman's port. The Mother in Law suite of a private home. Tatami mat floors. Sliding screens. Veranda. Air Conditioning. Sleep on the floor on Japanese bedding (futons).
These rooms are in a private Japanese home. The lady of the house is a Shuri (royalty) style artisan who works on a loom in her home (Suri Ori). She is well connected in the community and for an additional fee can, schedule permitting, show you around and explain Okinawan art, culture, history, and current events to you. If you are interested in her work, she can give you a traditional loom experience for 2000 yen an hour.
This unit has a kitchenette (no oven, no stove) with a mid sized fridge and a beverage station where you can make coffee and tea. We also provide plates, bowls, etc if you are wanting to serve ready made foods which are abundant at local markets. There are several excellent restaurants, bakeries, convenience stores near by. Guests have exclusive and full use of the entire apartment, which is situated underneath the hosts private quarters.

Your American hostess is in residence half the year. When not in residence she is available by internet to translate and to concierge.
Your hostess's older sister has two large traditional style rooms in her home which is near by, and can help to host larger groups.
We recommend before coming that you buy the book "Okinawa Explorer" by our friend Kenny Ehman, another airbnb host, as a great way to learn about Okinawa, and help narrow your focus. There is so much to do and see in Okinawa! Cave complexes like the huge Gyokusendo, re-enactment villages like Okinawa World, wineries like the Itoman Wine Farm, Microbreweries like Nanto brewery, and of course you must try Okinawa's fabulous foods and smooth version of sake which is called Awamori.
Please don't smoke. If you must smoke, do so outside and be aware of the dangers of fire and cancer causing tobacco fumes for those above and around you. Police your butts, but don't bring them into the apartment to throw them away as that makes the apartment smell.
All internet activity must be family friendly.
No illegal activity will be tolerated and will result in you being asked to leave immediately and no refund will be given.
Do not run the ac with the windows or doors open. Do not run the ac unless you are actually in the apartment.
Do not wear shoes in the house and do not wear in door slippers on the tatami mat floors.
Do not walk in dirty bare feet inside the apartment. There is a spigot and soap on the porch for cleaning your feet before coming inside.
Remove all sand from your body and your belongings before coming into the apartment. You can shake your towels and bathing suites outside and hang them in the patio area on the dryer provided.
