Colcello is a stone built house on the outskirts of the authentic village of San Leo Bastia in northern Umbria. You have sole use of the gardens and pool and are not overlooked by another property, affording you complete peace and seclusion. A ten-minute walk takes you down to the village where you can sip a cappuccino or campari in one of the two bars, buy fresh bread, pecorino and prosciutto for your lunch or enjoy a delicious pizza in the village restaurant. The hillsides ring with birdsong, butterflies flutter among the lavender and olive trees and the views are quite simply breathtaking - if you are looking for tranquillity in beautiful surroundings, this is the place for you.
From the front door a path leads to the pergola, a thatched terrace with beautiful views over the pool and hills. There is a table and chairs for alfresco eating as well as space to relax in reclining chairs in the shade. Steps lead down to the sun terrace. From here, there are steps into the raised, circular swimming pool which is 5.5 metres wide. It's no good for lengths (you have to swim round and round instead!) but it's definitely big enough for a refreshing dip and moderate exercise. Kids of all ages love it! The surrounding garden is terraced, with olive trees, fruit trees and, in early summer, tall spires of self-seeded hollyhocks. There is also a large washing line. At the bottom of the garden, a little path leads to a mountain spring where you can fill bottles with your own delicious spring water.
A stone built outhouse to the left of the front door contains a barbecue and a variety of sun recliners and outdoor chairs.
Colcello is on a hillside. The final stretch of the road is steep. There are a few steps up to the path leading to the front door and also a step down to the bathroom and into bedroom two. For this reason, we don't recommend it to families with very young children or adults with mobility problems.

Другие важные подробности
Colcello is owned by siblings Kirstie and Zita who live in the UK and their brother Rory, who lives in the Middle East. Our mother, also Zita, lived here on and off for the last 30 years of her life. She loved San Leo Bastia, the people, and the beautiful soft undulating hills. She was a keen painter - you can see some of her paintings on the walls in the Bar Spaccio.

Why this location?
Our parents fell in love with this area while on holiday and decided that they wanted to live here. We were still at school and university at the time. The rest, as they say, is history.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
Everyone who visits Colcello comments on the special atmosphere - there's something incredibly peaceful about the place. More and more, we find that we do very little here except mooch about, read, swim and, of course, visit the village at least twice a day for the obligatory morning cappuccino and pre-dinner campari soda. If you can tear yourself away from the view, beautiful hilltop towns, music festivals and art galleries await you.
