Cruise between Shadow Mountain Lake and Grand Lake through the canal to enjoy shopping, dinner and ice cream in town. Go out to the islands for the day in the cool shade and set up a picnic spot near easy spots for young children to play in the water. Even Moose have been seen resting on the islands and of course they frequent the local shore seen right from the deck of this home.
Maximize your time outdoors on the HUGE deck without missing a beat as you watch the boats and skiers go by. Spend a lazy afternoon lounging while the kids make s'mores over our old-fashioned fire pit or have some family competition on the Bocci Court. Hike right from the house across the dam into RMNP and up to the fire tower, about a 3 to 4 hour hike up, which will give you views across all 3 major lakes and for miles beyond. There is no better place to view the 4th of July fireworks than from the serene waters of Grand Lake.
Inside, enjoy the amenities you might expect to find in a home of this quality including a full gourmet kitchen with a six burner Wolf gas range, double Jenn-Aire ovens and Jenn-Aire refrigerator with freezer and ice-maker and GE Monogram microwave oven ... all stainless of course.
Tired from your hike? Relax in front of the great room open gas log fireplace with floor to ceiling stone work or better yet, enjoy the steam shower or air-jet tub in the main floor master bedroom. Game on? Watch it on the Panasonic 60' LCD HDTV in the great room or on the 47' HDTV in the family room while waiting to play the winner on the tournament quality pool table.
Upstairs are two additional bedroom suites with their own bathrooms and each with a ceiling fan. The lower level has a 4th large bedroom with a king size bed and a bunk bed adjacent to the lower level full bathroom. Music Anyone? For those who know how to play there is a professional Yamaha Baby Grand Piano reserved for accomplished musicians only. For novices and children there is a keyboard for them to enjoy playing down in the family room.
We are just minutes from the town of Grand Lake and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Grand Lake provides a classic 'old west' town ambiance and fun for the whole family. From there you can enjoy the shops, restaurants, mini-golf, guided horseback riding, guided and unguided snowmobile and ATV rentals, go-carts, bumper boats and more.
Rocky Mountain National Park is home to an abundant wildlife population including elk, deer, moose, bears, porcupines and foxes (many of these pass through the property as well). Miles of hiking and snowshoeing trails are accessible right from the home.

We pre-screen all guests so a phone number will be required. Guests are required to sign a rental agreement. Once accepted we will email directions & access info. We are glad to take calls or emails for recommendations (best place to eat, swim, rent boats, ski, etc?) or to answer any questions. We leave it up to the guest and try to be non intrusive but we are very happy to be contacted to ensure the best vacation for our guests. Welcome to The Shores of Shadow Mountain subdivision and Homeowners Association. As you spend time in our community we hope and trust you will find refreshment and relaxation. We would ask that you consider that this is a small community made up mostly of second home owners who spend most or all of the summer in Grand Lake and do not rent their homes out on vacation rentals. In order to be good neighbors and to continue to “keep the peace” in our small home owners association, we ask that you act as fellow community members “as if” you too were here all the time and knew the neighbors.
We can share a few specific requirements that have evolved as the result of past vacation renters who may have inadvertently overstepped their privileges. In order to rent our vacation property, you agree to abide by the following rules:
A.Only park in the garage if you have a higher clearance vehicle like an SUV or you will scrape or tear up the pavement as there is a drainage dip before you enter the garage. You can also park on stone covered pull out area directly above my home. Or, better yet, pull past my driveway to the right side of the road in front of the vacant lot.
B.Drive slowly up and down our roads. The Home Owners Association has requested this as some property owners have complained about short term renters not showing the same courtesy they might if they owned a home here.
C.Stay off the landscaping in the front yard including the stream bed and rock walls in and around the home. There is an in ground drip irrigation system to all plants and beds that is just below the surface in the wood chips. The best area for play is in the back (lake side) of the property down by the bocci court and campfire pit.
D.For your and all of our guests enjoyment, all landscaping is on a drip water system so no outside watering should be done as the system waters the plants every day. The only exceptions (except in winter), which we request watering every other day, are all the plants on the back deck and the three faux clay pots with annuals under the back deck.
E. NO CAMPFIRES OR OUTSIDE FIRES ARE ALLOWED AT ANY TIME.
F. Like any other hotel or campground you may stay at, we have a quiet time from 10PM to 8AM so we maintain a peaceful and restful environment for everyone.
G.IMPORTANT: The area in front of the water front homes, INCLUDING the small boat dock area is PRIVATE and for the exclusive use of the lakefront homeowners who pay extra for the privilege and upkeep of that area. RENTERS MUST STAY OFF OF THE PRIVATE BOAT DOCK and SHORELINE in front of the lakefront homes. The area’s to the east and west of the lakefront homes is National Forest Area and is open to the public for recreational use. (This area is part of the Arapahoe National Recreation Area)
H. This home is a NO SMOKING Zone.
I. Pets are not allowed. For Allergy sensitive people, owners dogs do spend time in the home.

We came to Colorado in 1995 from Sydney, Australia and Boston, MA where we are originally from. We bought our original Grand Lake vacation home in 2000 which provided many years of enjoyment. We built a brand new home at the southern end of Shadow Mountain Lake which we believe is the most scenic location in all of Grand Lake. Additionally, we manage four other vacation rental homes in Grand Lake and make them available to families looking to spend some time enjoying the serenity of this special place as much as we do.
