I had such a wonderful time staying with Petar and his family. They were gracious and helpful hosts, and their property is fantastic. They run a restaurant in which they serve homemade and homegrown food from their farm, which is right there on the property. Breakfast is included in the price, but the food is so good that you'll probably want to eat all your meals there (I certainly did). Also, I also don't eat wheat or dairy products for health reasons, but the family was extremely accommodating and gracious in making sure my meals fit my diet. Anyone who deals with a food allergy or has other dietary restrictions knows how awesome it is to find a restaurant like that, and they did it all without any complaint whatsoever.
You are welcome to include yourself in the life of the restaurant, which seems to me to be the main gathering area of the nearby villages, or you can keep to yourself, as there is plenty of space out back, and a view of the beautiful hills and valley beneath the majestic Prenj Mountain. I did some of each, meeting interesting and engaging people in the restaurant, and relaxing out in the garden, reading and staring at the mountain after a wild and exhausting few months of travel.
If you wish to be included in things, that's certainly an option for you. In addition to meeting people at the restaurant, I also spent time with Petar and some family friends listening to music and talking about everything, and even ended up going up to Boračko Lake with Petar's cousins for a day of swimming. Petar and his family are all very invested in making sure their guests have a great visit, and they will do whatever they can to make sure that they do.
Petar also takes people on rafting trips on the glorious Neretva river. I was fully planning on going rafting with him, but unfortunately I injured my back the morning before I arrived. I'll be going back for sure, though, because the Neretva is truly captivating, and Petar is such a gracious and knowledgeable guy who truly takes hosting seriously, that I can only imagine he's a great guide, as well.
This is absolutely a place I would recommend to anyone interested in good food, good people, beautiful scenery, relaxation, rafting, and/or getting an authentic taste of village life in Hercegovina. I will definitely be going back on my next trip to BiH, and I really hope it's soon.
