Welcome to Heart's Haven, an Elegant 1910 Heritage Home. Safety. Comfort. Privacy. Relaxing Retreat. All of these are as important to me as they are to you, my guests. I take sharing Heart's Haven with guests, very seriously. I pour my heart and soul into providing a Unique and Authentic Heritage Home Experience for each and every guest. Full 3 course freshly made breakfast with a variety of menu choices from locally sourced ingredients and fresh fruit in season.
Welcome to one of Salmon Arm's few remaining original homes, built in 1910: a “four-square bungalow, British India Colonial style with a breezeway (wrap around verandah)". Breakfast consists of a hot entree of your choice, with fresh fruit platter (in season), yogurt and Grandma's homemade granola: all fresh the morning of your stay and made from scratch in Hearts Haven's kitchen from locally sourced ingredients, as much as possible. The front verandah is the perfect place for summer storm watching or savoring a leisurely cup of coffee! Every nook of Hearts Haven is furnished with antiques, with a keen awareness of the timeless beauty of pieces from bygone eras and the comfort a cozy corner can offer to curl up with a good read or simply relax and rejuvenate after a day of travel, sight-seeing or playing hard.
Situated on ½ acre atop a hill overlooking Shuswap Lake, 5 minute's drive from the center of town or a 15 minute walk along a lovely path through the forest, Hearts Haven's back yard interfaces with forest: home to deer, pheasants, birds, a hawk, and other creatures, all who find their way into our yard. Heritage trees create a shady sanctuary, with lots of sun on the back deck if that is your preference. The privacy of the yard lends itself very well to a meditation retreat environment. The house is a 10-minute drive from Canoe Beach, good for swimming and with a children's playground.
Two bedrooms: the Princess Room and the Victorian Room, each with a queen-size 'feather bed' so you can drift away into dream-time on clouds of down.
Have your morning coffee in your room if you wish, or take it out to one of the many nooks on the verandah, or relax in the dining room. Our beautiful antique upright piano awaits piano enthusiasts. All of the rooms are filled with period antiques, many original to Hearts Haven. All of the mainfloor rooms are available for your use: the dining room, parlor, library (TV room), bedroom(s), and marble bathroom.
*1. Each bedroom has two low (5.5 inch) steps leading into it through the doorway. Please ensure this will not pose a problem for guests with mobility issues. One of the bedrooms has a grab bar installed just inside the doorway to assist guests with mobility issues. Night lights are available as well.
**2. The design of the house is such that guests must pass through the kitchen to access the bathroom. If you are concerned about your privacy (I may be in the kitchen preparing your breakfast), please bring a robe or wrap of some kind with you.
Общение с гостями
Come and stay a while – long or short – you will be glad you did. You can have as much privacy and seclusion as you wish. I will welcome you on arrival and serve you breakfast in the breakfast room or on the porch. The rest of your stay, your time and space are your own. The breakfast menu varies and everything is homemade 'from scratch': and you may choose fresh croissants with all the trimmings one morning, crisp and fluffy Coconut Belgian waffles or pancakes, or a ‘western breakfast' with eggs, hash browns and toast, or an omelette? Vegan and gluten-free options available (please request when booking).
My home is your home. You will feel like you are visiting your favorite aunt, or Grandma!

LOST & FOUND
We prefer that you don't leave items behind, but know from our own traveling that it does happen. If you have lost something somewhere along your trip, give us a call and if it is in our lost and found box, we will gladly ship it back to you for the cost of shipping and a $20 handling fee. (This applies to the first 30 days after your departure. Items unclaimed after 30 days will be donated to a local charity.)
Unfortunately, I must say ‘No Pets', as I have a rescue Shetland sheepdog here. She is very quiet at night, so no concerns while people are trying to sleep or rest, but other animals ‘in her space' would just be too much for her. She is sometimes in the main part of the house, though, so please let me know if there are allergies or if someone does not like dogs and I will keep her downstairs, away from the area used by guests. Luna has her own fenced backyard and the basement is ‘her space'.
No smoking in the house or on the property.
Should you wish to prepare a simple snack while you are here (you won't have access to the stove), you are welcome to use a few dishes - please ask me. It is important that you leave the space as you found it. There is limited space in the fridge - please ask me if you need to store something there.

About me: I am the second owner of Hearts Haven, have lived here since 1977. I am a recently retired nurse, worked much of my career internationally and always came home again to Hearts Haven to rest and rejuvenate before heading off to work in another war zone. I myself have been a weary traveler, have stayed in accommodations of many types, in many parts of the world, and have a good sense of what travelers really need in a space to lay their head and begin a new day with the wonder of exploration and joy.
My three children were raised in this home. The house and yard lend themselves well to family pursuits. I love meeting new people and I love to cook. Most of all, I love to share my home. Children are always welcome.
