Moon hole is a beautiful home with amazing views from all angles. It is an open concept home meaning there are no secured windows in the bathroom and no doors/windows in the kitchen, just open spaces. Bedroom has very large secured (lockable) windows that is the source of wonderful breezes. Get ready for a long hike up steps but if you are looking for relaxation or rekindling a romance then this is a great place to do so. Doro our cook is a wealth of information and cooked tasty dishes for us daily. You cannot beat the views in Moonhole. I didn’t get a chance to meet Lusan as she was away but from our communication she seems quite pleasant and amenable.

WOW!!! Where do I being...I left my heart in Bequia! The Burke House in Moonhole was absolutely, wonderful & simply amazing!! It exceeded my expectations, above & beyond what I imagined from online pics & prior reviews. The Island is a spectacular splendor~a work of art from God! Bring your cameras & the mosquito repellent!! That was the only annoyance. I quite enjoyed the rest of the friendly creatures, like lizards & iguana's, crabs, birds, bats, moth's as big as the palm of my hand, firefly's & an angelic choir of cricket every evening right on schedule w/ the beautiful sunsets (which happen on the back patio overlooking the Caribbean Sea & the mainland St. Vincent). I went with my mom & sisters & stayed the minimum 3 nights & wish we stayed longer. We caught the Bequia Express Ferry from St. Vincent. Communication with the host Lusan was friendly & smooth. Our host, Lusan & our house keeper/personal, daily delicious Caribbean chef Dorthy (effectionately known as Doro) picked us up from the Ferry @ Port Elizabeth & took us grocery shopping for food. Lusan was sweet as a butterfly w/ beautiful eyes & smile to match. Doro was great in every sense! The stairs to get to the house will give you a nice Bequia~butt workout, but won't stop you from going up and down daily to get to the magical, seemingly private exclusive Moonhole Beach below. A fish came over to take a look us as we swam for hours in the clear blue warm waters...wear sunblock!! I got burnt bad the 1st day I ran to the ocean w/ no sunscreen. My favorite part of the house, don't laugh, was the have to 'sit' it for yourself & you will understand. It's completely open w/ breathtaking panoramic ocean views & so fresh. Even the rain was welcomed & peaceful followed by stunning rainbows. This was a unique experience in a natural and organic feeling open stone home...I LOVED IT & WOULD LOVE TO COME BACK AGAIN & AGAIN!!! ~BOOK IT NOW! Thank me later :) Blessing Erica

Beautiful location and views! It's not close to buses/public transportation so a car is important. It's almost entirely open so there are mosquitoes/bugs as one might expect but nothing good bug spray didn't solve. It can be hot at night under the mosquito net if there's not a good breeze. Marva, our cook/housekeeper was very sweet. The owner, Lusan, lives on the property and immediately addressed an issue we had with the bathroom sink. It is a very unique place that is tremendously beautiful but might not be undertaken unless your adventuresome.

Just left Burke House after a truly fantastic time - staying here really made the perfect end to our holiday. The website doesn't do the place justice. It's incredibly peaceful with spectacular views. Eating breakfast looking out at St Vincent to the north and drinking rum punch after a day at the beach looking at the Grenadines to the south. While Martha the wonderful chef cooks a delicious dinner. Perfect!

Paradise! We were met by Lusan, the owner, who picked us up at the ferry along with Marva, our "home" keeper and cook for our stay. The first thing we did was to stop at the supermarket to get supplies for meals. After a 15 minute ride, we arrived at Moon Hole. Thankfully, Harry was there to carry our bags as the hill of stairs that takes you to paradise is quite steep. Burke House is a beautiful artistic manmade house of concrete and stone and shells and wood with two terraces on each side of the island to take advantage of the trade winds. These winds assure you of a cool breeze and no mosquitos. The place was amazingly comfortable and we found ourselves lazing at times just reading and cooking and taking advantage of the beautiful sea below. The showers and toilet and most rooms have no windows or doors. All 11 houses on 22 acres are quite private. On the first day we swam in the ocean below and then followed the stone path to the end, winding past many of the other homes on the preserve. I kept wondering how to get to the end of the knoll and it wasn't until the last day that I noticed a steep incline that would take me. Look for a steep descent, rather rough looking at first which will take you on a seldom used but amazing climb over stone steps to this last knoll. You will meet a few 4 foot iguanas along the way which might cause you both to jump from fear. They are as nimble as squirrels. You will then stand alone at the end of this journey with ocean on three sides but for one last little island. On our second day, we took a mile plus walk to Paget Farm, the largest village in Bequia. We made a stop at the market for a conch roti which we ate in the pavilion with the local ladies and their beautiful smiles. We also met Marva's cousin who was roasting chicken and gave us a much coveted lime and some delicious coconut bread. I wouldn't advise leaving this piece of paradise to wander far. Take in as much as you can while here. We stayed up each night on the chaise lounges on the terrace, sometimes falling asleep there. Turn out all the lights and let the stars and the moon fill you while the trade winds blow though your hair. Nature will humble you in this place.

What we enjoyed about Burke House: 1) Spectacular views to the north (St Vincent) and to the south (Isle a Quatre, Mustique, Canouan...) 2) Being looked after and cooked for by Marva. She prepared delicious home-cooked meals for us every evening. 3) The space inside and outside the property - two large bedrooms with queen size beds, showers with hot water, and the two decks (to the front and back). 4) Peace and quiet - our nearest neighbours were Lusan and her husband John, whose property was a short walk from Burke House. Points to be aware of: 1) Long walk to the nearest bus stop (at the airport) - about 30 minutes from Burke House. 2) We enjoyed this property, but it might not be for everyone, as it is very open to the elements.
