Our family home for 4/5, has wonderful views of the Downs with frequent 20 minute bus rides into the centre of Brighton. Taxis £15. With ample car parking space and easy access to the Downs, this home makes a fantastic base for family day trips out.
This is a lovely family home with fabulous views of the downs and flexible accommodation. The garden is large and given over to a patio, a couple of vegetable patches and plenty for the children to do - trampoline, climbing frame, swing and playhouse. The back garden opens out onto a field which is part of the Downs National Park. The rooms are spacious and benefit from a good deal of light. The house comfortably accommodates a family of up to 5 (2 adults and 3 children) or two couples + 1 other. There is a downstairs cloakroom as well as a family bathroom.
Fresh bed linen and towels are provided as is a 'starter' pack of cereals, milk, bread, butter, tea and coffee. Guests are welcome to use the wood burning stove, but we do ask that you replace any wood used - (there i(URL HIDDEN)on the main road). The house is set back off from the road and there is plenty of free car parking space on the road. For more details about rooms and amenities, please read the House Manual.
The house is on the top of a hill with ample car parking space. It is a walk up the hill to the house, so it may not be suitable for guests with mobility difficulties. In order to reach the garden you also need to climb up about 5 steps. Any part of the house can be used by guests. All play equipment can be used, though it is entirely at your own risk. All amenities can be used by the guests, including washing machine, the dryer, the microwave, even the bread maker! The wood-burner can be used by guests too but we ask that they replace any wood that they use if they are there for more than a couple of nights. The neighbours are friendly but we do have an agreement to keep the children in until 9:30am as they work shifts! This is our most important rule as we have to live here after you leave!
The field behind the back garden is farmer's land, but he is perfectly happy for people to walk/picnic in it providing it is not being used for grazing. There are public footpaths behind the scout hut opposite the school from which guests can take long walks over the Downs.
Другие важные подробности
We are happy to provide a 'breakfast' and 'starter' hamper for the arrival of guests which will include foodstuffs such as bread, milk, tea, coffee, jam, butter etc....
We live in a family neighbourhood so this is not a 'party' house. The neighbours are friendly, but we generally keep the noise down after 11pm and keep the children inside until 9:30am so that everyone can have a rest! We have our own dog, but she is not allowed upstairs. We can be flexible about guests bringing a dog, but the dog would need to be used to cats (our neighbours have lots) and unable to jump over 5ft walls! We are non-smokers, but guests are welcome to smoke outdoors.
Usually, we will not be around to hand over keys, but a close friend will be. We will be contactable at any point during the guests' stay and we have appointed friends who will be willing to help in the event of an emergency.
Hi there! I am a mum of three and a primary school teacher. My husband is also a teacher of looked after boys and a performance poet. We are a very active family with a young labrador to keep us on our toes! My children are 18,13 and 8...so life is pretty busy for us! We like being outside; walking, rock-climbing, swimming, cycling and camping! Well, my son might debate the camping! We like to socialise and there is always someone at our house. We operate an 'open door' policy and there is always an extra child for dinner! We are careful with our belongings, but not precious about them. We wouldn't have a nervous breakdown if someone dropped a mug! Most of all we like people to feel comfortable in our house, which we keep clean and tidy. We do have a dog but she is not allowed upstairs and downstairs is all wooden flooring).
I have a wide variety of interests: reading, being outdoors, gardening, painting, socialising, film and theatre - if only there was enough time ...and money...for them all! My husband and I are proud of the fact that we met in a nightclub! (Not that we get to them very often these days!) If there are five things I couldn't live without they would have to be...my family, my friends, my garden, tea and chocolate!
We welcome you to our home - the only shame is that we may not be around in person to show you around. Please use all amenities freely and enjoy your stay!
