ONCE UPON A TIME! This statement pretty much sums up our stay at Chateau Longecourt.
It was our Anniversary and my wife and I wanted to celebrate and this was an item on our "bucket list". To stay in a castle!
During our stay, several times as we wondered the chateau rooms and grounds we would look at one another and pinch ourselves.
The property has a garden, farm for chicken, stables, fruit trees everywhere on the exterior, and a chapel dated back to the 1600's.
It was like being in a Disney film or like you were able to tap into the stories of the people that once lived there hundreds of years ago.
But I think the detail that sold me most - was the Mote. If you have a chateau you need to have a mote of water protecting it with 2 beautiful swans. The whole experience was breath-taking and all we could say was how blessed and fortunate we felt.
The Lodging: If you ever wanted to live in a fairy tale for just a few days - then this is the place. The decor, furniture, artwork, pay homage to it's vintage charm. In addition, the chateau rooms and bathrooms have been updated to please the modern traveler. Tons of Hot Water!
The Location: Set in the heart of the Route Du Grand Cru, the chateau is close to the major highway and equal distance from Dijon to Puligny Matrachet. Drive through the small French villages and experience daily life in Burgundy while you spoil yourself with some of the best wines in the world.
The Host: Count Roland, made this castle come alive with his kind, humble, yet eccentric personality. He is a Renaissance man that paints, make his homemade jams, picks the apple off the trees on the property for your breakfast, and will go the extra mile to make sure your trip to Burgundy is "unforgettable".
The Breakfast: Enjoyed homemade jams, fresh fruit, killer coffee and teas, options of french breads, yogurts, and local cheese from a nearby Abbey made by monks. All this while, heavenly classical music plays in the background - what more could you want?
In Summary: A house is a house, and a chateau is a chateau - just brick and mortar. But Roland makes you feel like one of the family and being that he is such a kind and gentle man - you want to spend your time getting to know him. At any given moment, we found ourselves lost in a dream come true.
My Last Thought: If you want to find the Prince and Princess in you - treat yourself to a stay at Chateau Longecourt! You will NEVER regret it!!!
