Southern & Western exposure. Tons of sunlight. Private bath. Queen bed plus futon. Eclectic furnishings: desk, table, chairs, dresser, shelves, couch (futon), etc. Sleeps 4 comfortably. Up to 5 can be arranged with airbed upon request. In a huge apt. If you are 1-2 people, I also have a smaller room available. Airbnb only allows one listing per account now in NYC. If you are interested, just write me a note. The smaller room is $75/night for one. I included a picture at the end of this listing.
the room: it's the biggest bedroom (bigger than some nyc apartments...). very comfortable (master) bedroom and private bath with a queen sized bed (and futon/couch), furnished eclectically/boho chic. southern and western exposure. lots of sun that warms the room in the winter. shades if you don't want the sun. nice breeze in the summer. air conditioner. sunset views. full length mirror. lots of closet space.
my guests are almost always very happy with the space and love my apartment. HOWEVER, if you are a hotel or a luxurious modern accommodation, this is not for you. it is an old apartment that has not been renovated. that means it has a lot of charm and soul, but also that the floors are rough, the bathtub is scratched and scuffed, and the heaters make noises sometimes. although this is generalizing, I tend to think that younger people and the more bohemian or adventurous travelers are going to be very happy here. if you aren't sure, feel free to ask. i want everyone who stays here to be happy.
the OTHER room (mentioned above): it's a nice-sized sunny, bright, bedroom plus private toilet. the room has a big west-facing window looking out on Broadway, and across the tops of the buildings across the street with a view across the Hudson River. the room has a queen-sized bed and is simply furnished. there is closet space, bookshelf, etc. the private bathroom attached to this bedroom only has a toilet and sink (which only has hot water, currently), so guests in this room also have access to the shower/bath in another bathroom (pictured)
the apartment: 2300 sq foot (200+ sq. meter), 4 bedroom apartment on the top (14th) floor. fully equipped kitchen. filtered drinking water. fast broadband internet/wi-fi. living room. dining room. 47" internet connected LED tv with direct tv/movie streaming via to netflix and other services). dvd (big dvd collection), plants/trees. no pets. the apartment is furnished and painted eclectically, as you can see from the pictures.
the building: well-kept, pre-war, 24-hour doorman, elevator building. laundry and gym in basement.

Другие важные подробности
one note on one of the reviews for another room mentions that the wi-fi didn't work. that was very unfortunate and bad timing as the wi-fi broke while they were here and i was out of the country. nevertheless, it was fixed as soon as possible, and works very well now.
the cleaning fee is exactly what i pay the cleaning service so that the room is professionally cleaned before each new guest arrives. because stays can range from a few days to a few weeks or more, i let airbnb add the cleaning fee separately, rather than adding to the price per night, to make it more transparent and fair for everyone involved.

guests must be respectful, tidy, and relatively quiet late at night. the apartment has very thick walls, so you definitely don't have to be silent. and can even watch loud movies late at night without disturbing anyone. basically, treat the apartment as your home and the people you are sharing with as you think they would like to be treated.

I am a dj and musician, and a native New Yorker. Being a dj and self-employed means that I am home a lot during the day. I am pretty low-key as far as hosting goes. I have had lots of international guests prior to signing up for Airbnb, and I love the cultural exchange. They mostly found us by word of mouth from their friends, or friends of friends, who had stayed here previously. Having lived here in NYC all my life, I am very knowledgeable about the city and I enjoy sharing that with people. I also wind up learning things about New York from my guests, which is nice. Some of the people who have lived here have become close friends.
I like to cook. Some of my favorite foods are Caribbean, Italian, Ethiopian, West African, Indian, and Southeast Asian (I make a mean Thai red curry). I am semi-vegan (I eat fish but not dairy). I run and work out in the bldg gym, which you are welcome to use too. I like to watch movies. Some all-time favorites are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Me You and Everyone We Know, Punch Drunk Love, Rushmore, The Big Blue, Fargo, The Ice Storm, Delicatessen, and The Squid and the Whale. Some favorite shows are Breaking Bad, True Detective, House of Cards, The Killing, The Office (UK and US), Extras, Bored To Death, Saxondale, Family Guy, Eastbound and Down, Flight of the Conchords, Californication, 30 Rock, Nurse Jackie... I am probably the only person left on earth who has not seen The Wire or The Sopranos. Some of my favorite music, in no particular order: Stevie Wonder, A Tribe Called Quest, Bjork, Sigur Ros, Little Dragon, Fela Kuti, Nina Simone, Hall & Oates, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Minnie Riperton, Syreeta, D'Angelo, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, Ahmad Jamal, Young Holt Unlimited, Imagination, Owusu & Hannibal, Dirty Projectors, Steve Reich, Al Green, Arthur Russell, TV on the Radio, Gangstarr, Jamie Woon, and on and on...
Do people really have life mottos? I don't. I try to keep an open mind, and a balance between working, being creative, learning, and spending time with people I love. When I can do them all at the same time, I'm completely happy. That's how I feel about my primary dj endeavor, a party called I Love Vinyl, which I do with four of my best friends, who happen to be world-class djs. We have great parties and it's very fulfilling.
