Echt een prachtig huis op een fantastische locatie. Gezellige cafe’s en restaurantjes in de buurt en centraal gelegen voor allerlei uitstapjes.

Idil was a great host. Check in was faultless with Idil staying in close touch. Idil also kindly helped us arrange a van to and from the airport. The property is old chic and has a lot of room, great for a family or people needing more room. The location is right next to Galata…

It was not what I was expecting, very disappointing. The check-in experience was terrible. I had difficulty contacting the host who was abroad. The number on the building was unclear and there was no number for the bell. The cleaner’s husband who was supposed to check me in and …

Now let me tell the other side of this story: 1) Airbnb hosts go on holiday too, but when I do that I always ensure to leave a perfect place for my guests as if I am there. It always happened and hardly there was any problem. I have informed you about our national holiday in advance and told you that our cleaner will welcome you. I have written you all the necessary information about checkin and the house. But.. you called me 5 times from airport complaining that you cannot find an English speaking taxi driver at the airport. Sorry that's not something I can guarantee you when you travel to Turkey. Please read in advance about the country that you are traveling. 2) Because you could not find a decent taxi driver that speaks fluent English you waited 3 hours in the airport for your friend to arrive. That caused me to pay double price to the cleaner to stay another 3 hours in the flat to wait for you and finally she had to leave it to her husband and got to go back home in the middle of the night. (as you can read in my flat details check in after 7pm is subject to extra 20 euros, but apparently you did not read it either.) 3) I have given you the full address of the house but you said the taxi driver cannot understand it, then it came out that you have given the "name of the building" to the driver as destination name. Sorry, taxi drivers don't know the names of the buildings, but they do know the names of the districts if you could be aware of where you would stay in Istanbul. This is the first time that I welcome a guest who does not have any idea where she is expected to go, that is so unaware about the district that she has rent the flat. 4) Was there not the number at the bell? yes it was slightly erased (now written in bold again) but was it really too difficult to understand the number 7 is just next to number 8, especially when the numbers in the bell apparently go sequentially?? So far my guests never had any problem with guessing that.. 5) The cleaner's husband does not speak English. You have to accept the reality that not all the world is obliged to speak English by heart, this is so humiliating actually. But anyway why do you expect him to speak English? He was there only to give you the keys!! Other than that I had explained everything you needed via messages and there is a file in the flat full of the necessary info. (remember you had even asked about the weather, the dress code, the money etc and I had explained to you in long long mails, serving you as (Hidden by Airbnb) .). When I travel I usually make self checkin and that works perfectly. 6) What was dangerous with the shower? Because it is an antique clawfoot tub? Sorry, thats's a style that I love and no one so far had any danger in it..Hot water 24 hrs from a recently bought high quality Buderus heater and a window with a view of the garden-with a curtain if you prefer.. 7) "Everything is old??" My guests rather say kindly " authentic and stylish with antique furniture mixed with a modern touch". Have you not looked at the style of the decoration before you rented?? Next time please do.. 8) The freezer of the refrigerator had a problem unfortunately, now it is fixed. Sorry for that. I mean it. On the phone you even complained about the quantity of the water that I left in the refrigerator. I always leave a 1,5-2 lt bottle next to some confectionary, tea, coffee and fruits. That's our welcome pack and our guests kindly say they appreciate it. 9) as for the entrance of the building, yes there was a restoration for 3 days in the flat below. The day you arrived the workers had taken out the bags of construction garbage and left them at the entrance to take them away the next day by a truck. If you did not leave the next morning you could see it was all clean again. Which can happen in any residential building around the world. Not in your city? Briefly, I strongly recommend you to stay in hotels rather than houses. Airbnb might not be your style. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Istanbul, and found a fluently English speaking taxi driver back to the airport. The pilots don't wait 3 hrs.. Thx..
