The studios open onto a large covered terrace overlooking the garden and the sea. A long sandy beach lies within a short walking distance . The medieval walled-in city of Monemvasia is a 5' drive away displaying history and wine tasting!
Because water is scarce ( we collect and use rain water for our vegetable plots), our front garden is green in Spring and Autumn with lots of cactus and pelargonium varieties flowering at intervals. There is an abundance of wild flowers and aromatic plants all the way to the beach. The upper town of the Castro (medieval city) has a rich and wonderful wild vegetation; a little paradise.
Monemvasia (Μονεμβάσια) is a peninsula located in the south-eastern Peloponnese in the prefecture of Laconia; it was separated from the mainland by an earthquake in 375 A.D
Monemvasia was founded by the Byzantines in the sixth century and shortly after became an important trading port. It remained in Byzantine possession for almost seven hundred years until it was captured by the Franks in 1249 after a three year siege. However, it returned to Byzantine hands ten years later and became the chief port of the Despotate of Mystra.
Access to a myriad of activities, from the obvious (swimming), to the cultural (archaeology ), to the gastronomic (wines going back to the 13th century) to the adventurous ( hiking and speleology)
