Comfortable Essentials in a beautiful historic structure.
The large front parlor or 'living room' of this 1860 Greek Revival Farmhouse overlooks the East shore of Cayuga Lake. There is lots of light in this room with five grand windows, facing East, South and West. It is a private room with a queen-size bed and a fold out couch (queen) bed. Also easy chairs, an oak desk and a vintage upright piano in playing condition. The wood plank floor has a large area carpet. A full bath at the top of the staircase may be shared with one or two others.
The large farm kitchen is available for your use, assuming you will leave it clean and tidy. Laundry privileges and Wireless Internet are also available and included.
The house is located 2 miles from the Ithaca Malls; 3 miles to the Stewart or Myers Parks; 4 miles to Cornell, 5 miles to the Ithaca Commons, and 6 miles to Ithaca College.
The regular bus lines do not run here, they are available at the Ithaca Malls which are two miles away. Taxi fare from the airport or downtown is about $15.
This is a farmhouse and not in perfect condition. There are projects needing attention inside and outside the house. I am a low-key, yet active person, expecting that guests will take care of themselves and be respectful to the property and its residents. Right now I have several housemates. I try to keep things clean and simple.
I consider it a safe and quiet neighborhood, except for the road noise at times. East Shore Drive is Route 34 North--a major highway out of Ithaca leading to Aurora & Auburn.
I like to treat my guests like family, and many of my former guests come back to visit and enjoy the spaciousness and peacefulness of the farmstead.
There are many lovely places with great views for hiking and the enjoyment of nature nearby. You'll be glad you came!
Come in through the back porch (north) kitchen door--the one with the welcome sign on it. Walk through the common sitting room and front hall to the parlor. A full bath at the top of the front staircase (left) is shared with two others. The shared farm kitchen is available to those who clean up after themselves. Coffee & tea are supplied there.

I enjoy conversation with guests and recommending activities and places to visit. I am sometimes quite involved in my own activities. If not able to be there for your arrival or have a friend greet you, I will try to keep in touch and leave adequate information for you to get settled.

The driveway is in rough shape. Park at top of the circle or along the side near house. Leave a wide passage in the center of the driveway for farm equipment to pass through. Come in the right door on the back/north porch (kitchen). There is a welcome sign on the door. You can also use the front door, but careful--the front sidewalk is uneven.
No shoes upstairs (kitchen & downstairs OK)
Quiet time 10pm-6am weekdays; 12pm-8am weekends.
Leave kitchen as clean or cleaner than you found it!

I am a woodworker/carpenter by trade and a farmer/dreamer at heart.
I like water-skiing, snow-skiing and anything that feels like flying.
A fan of home-made music, I enjoy dancing, singing, talking about anything.
I enjoy sharing my unusual, amazing place which is in a great location.
My accommodations are basic though--nothing fancy, just comfortable.
