Guests enjoy a lovely spacious room with a queen bed overlooking the garden in this 1906 two story home situated in a premier neighborhood on the way to the historic Astoria Column. The home is at the top of the hill just above downtown Astoria.
The guest suite is on the main floor and there is a door that separates it from the rest of the house. The suite includes a spacious and comfortable bedroom with queen bed (with a 3-inch memory foam mattress topper), a light-filled dining/sitting area and private deck overlooking the Columbia River, and a newly remodeled private bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Though the space is listed as accommodating 2 people, the loveseat in the sitting area can be "converted" into a twin bed. Your hostess has her suite of rooms upstairs so guests are able to have as much privacy and separateness as they choose.
The fully equipped kitchen is available for light cooking, with room for food storage if needed. There is also a small gas grill on the deck which is available to guests. I don't make breakfast, but you may use staples in the “guest pantry” if you want to cook. There are cereals, nuts, soy milk, raisins, and coffee and teas in the pantry.
The sitting area has a TV with a DVD player and a Roku box for your use.
The home has a large off-street parking area and guests enter the home through the side porch into the kitchen. Your accommodations are on the main floor of the house.

I work full time during the week and with prior notice I can be available to greet you and show you your accommodations and introduce you to Jasper, my 12 year-old Blue Heeler mix dog. He will be in a separate part of the home when I'm not here. Though I work during the week and have a fairly active lifestyle, I enjoy meeting my guests and visiting, if that is your preference. I am also sensitive to your need for privacy.

Although I have a dog, I do not generally allow him to hang out in the guest suite because I want the area to be free of dog hair or odors. For this reason and because he is fairly territorial when other dogs are in his space, I maintain a no-pets policy for guests. Also, I have a 4 1/2 year old granddaughter who visits for an overnight every other weekend. When she's here, we spend much of our time on outings or doing art in my upstairs studio. She enjoys meeting guests but also knows that guests enjoy their privacy and quiet.
Quiet after 11PM.
Clean up the kitchen if you cook.
No smoking inside the house.
No excessive use of alcohol.
Please arrive as scheduled or contact me if there is a change in your arrival time.
I'm a psychotherapist and a jewelry/bead artist who has lived in Astoria for the past 7 1/2 years. Having spent 21 years in southeast Alaska prior to moving here, Astoria feels to me kind of like "Juneau with road access". I enjoy the connection with water and nature here, the creative types who tend to end up here and the opportunities for art and music. I love going hiking with my dog and when the weather's good, I enjoy bicycling too. I've lived in lots of different places and always enjoy meeting people from other places and cultures.
