(URL HIDDEN) * "UP NORTH"
There's a lot of talk about "Up North".
It's the place everyone seems to want to go escape the pressures and the frantic pace of everyday life.
But where is "Up North"?
For "Up North" is not so much a location as a state of mind.
So how do you know when you've arrived "Up North"?
When you feel the cares of the world begin to slip away.....
When you find yourself breathing a little deeper because the air seems purer somehow.....
When you notice that the sky is bluer, the pines are taller and the people smile a lot more.....
It's then that you know you're "UP North"

We can't give you loons on the lake, but we'll do our best so this will happen for you.
It happens for me every day I go there. Julie
Absolutely no smoking inside the cottage. (Host is extremely allergic(URL HIDDEN)Sorry, we love all manner of pets, but we just can not accommodate pets at this time. The cottage is just too small.
What is present in the cottage when you arrive stays in the cottage. We have tried very hard to accessorize the entire cottage with interesting items that contributes to entire essence & charm of the place. Many of the items are original to the cottage & do fall into the ‘antique’ category, not to speak of the sentimental category. We would like them there so you all can enjoy them, now and in the future. (exception: any food items are there for you to use & enjoy & therefore fair game)
Same for the grounds and gardens. No removal of garden art or plant materials. But if anyone has an overwhelming urge to pull a few weeds or water a droopy plant, I would be eternally grateful.
This is a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat so we honor all critters, so no sniping or plinking of feathered, furry, hoppity, or slithery things.
We are part of an oak savannah, with that comes the dreaded ‘PI’, poison ivy. We do our best to control the poison ivy in the mowed yard & garden areas but enter the woods & meadow at your own risk because it is everywhere.
Privacy and the quality of the stay are of paramount importance to us as hosts. Yard maintenance will be scheduled around guests needs then possible but during periods of little or no rain it may be necessary for the owners to be present some each day to water to sustain the gardens and many plantings. (Entry into the cottage would not be required.)
I bought this property when I was still in my 20s in 1977 & I've had a love affair with it ever since. Career demands required me to move a bit around the country but I could never sell it. Ed & I lived in KCMO for many years & we used it as a week end place because our families were here. We moved back to the area & after all these years I had my chance to make this place into all I knew it could be. We have spent the last 3+ years working to that end. Now our greatest joy is to share this with others who may come to love it too.
