Calypso has 700 square feet of dining and living area, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a full kitchen. Additionally, there is a huge rooftop deck with a covered wet bar, sitting/lounging areas and a dining table. She is brand new with top end furnishings and docked in Key Largo at the Pilot House Marina.

This just built 3 bedroom houseboat-style yacht with luxury furnishings sits directly in the water, on Lake Largo, at the Pilot House (PH) Marina–a number #1 rated marina in the Florida Keys. Just down the dock is the Pilot House Restaurant and Glass Bottom Bar–a locals' favorite with in/outdoor dining, and tiki bar. With 30+ glass floor panels and underwater lighting, watch the fish in our Caribbean waters. Your dock leads to the PH Boardwalk where you can sign up for scuba and snorkling dive tours, take an underwater tour of a Coral Restoration facility, charter a fishing boat, store your own boat, or walk down the road to swim with the dolphins. The kids can bike to the town water park or tennis courts, or you can spend the day at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park–all described below. And that's all within 1-5 minutes of your Key Largo marina. Or, spend a day driving through the Keys, over the 7-Mile Bridge to Mallory Square in Key West, and see the jugglers and street performers while watching the most famous sunset in the US.

Calypso sleeps up to 8. Stainless steel appliances. She has a huge roof top deck with a covered granite wet bar and dining area with grill. She is right in the middle of the marina–watch the yachts and fishing boats come in and out. The master bed room has a huge 6'x6' window with unobstructed marina views. Side windows may or may not have views depending on when other boats dock alongside. She is on a floating 5 foot wide concrete dock, so its just one 9' step up onto the boat's deck at any tide. The docks are lighted and very stable–they don't sway or move, except imperceptily up and down with the tide. The dock is connected to the Boardwalk by a long ramp with handrails; there are no steps to the Boardwalk. Its a safe first nautical experience for people of all ages who have never been on a boat before.

The Pilot House Marina, Restaurant and Glass Bottom Bar is located on Lake Largo in the heart of Key Largo, FL–the best diving and fishing waters of the world. Relax at the casual Glass Bottom Tiki Bar while overlooking your houseboat. From wings to stuffed lobster, burgers, fish, shrimp, steak, and daily specials all Pilot House family priced. Several nights each week local musicians perform–you can hear it on Calypso, but the music ends by 11 PM if its not your favorite. Check out the PH Marina website for live webcams of the action and performers' schedule. Calypso's dock leads to the Boardwalk in front of the Glass Bottom Bar. Walk to the Key Largo Fisheries market on the other side of Lake Largo to bring home fish/lobster/crab that's just hours old, cooked or raw. Or, eat the freshest seafood possible right at their new café. There are dozens of restaurants, many outdoors and on the water, within a 1-15 minute drive. Great food by Chef Todd, of the prior PH Calypso restaurant of many years, is available right across the street at the American Legion, with the cheapest drink prices in the Keys. See the link, below, to Calypso's website, for detailed information as there's just too much to say here.

Stroll down the PH Boardwalk and sign up for a scuba or snorkeling trip by boat to the John Pennekemp Coral Reef State Park, just a few minutes away by boat. The undersea Park and the adjacent Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary cover 178 nautical square miles of coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove swamps. The Park extends 3 miles into the Atlantic and is 25 miles long. These areas preserve the only living coral reef in the continental US. You can also drive the 3.6 miles to the Park's Visitor Center and see the 30,000 gallon aquarium, or use their three sandy swimming beachs (a rarity in the Keys) one of which has the remnants of a Spanish shipwreck just 100 feet off shore for snorkling fun. If you don't snorkle, go out on their glass-bottom boat or canoe/kayak the park's inland waters surrounded by mangroves. Walk the trails and picnic.

You can visit the underwater Park, two times a day, right from the PH's Boardwalk aboard one of two dive boats (Scuba-Do and Keys Diver). Bring your own equipment, or use theirs and learn by diving the shallow reefs, or sign up for wreck dives in the crystal clear waters of Key Largo and Tavernier. Free moorings are provided throughout the Park (daytime use only) if you want to snorkle or scuba from your own boat. Call the Dock Master (Matt, (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) to bring your own boat and store it on their racks, on its trailer or in the water nearby. There's also an unsual highspeed Russian glass bottom hydrofoil boat (Largo Looker) that leaves right from Pilot House at 9:00AM and 12:30PM for 2.5 hour tours ($65@).

Further down the board walk, charter a fishing boat for the day, or visit the Coral Restoration Foundation Educational Center. Take their 1- or 2-day coral preservation course which includes lectures on coral anatomy and two afternoon dives, one in the coral nursery and one at an outplanting site. Of course, you can get PADI scuba certified at all three dive centers at the Pilot House.

You may even want to leave the marina! Walk a few hundred feet down the street to Dolphins Plus, the original Swim With The Dolphins (or sea lions) program in Key Largo. Or, drive a couple minutes down to the next harbor and take a dinner cruise aboard the steam powered African Queen–its the actual boat used by Hepburn & Bogart in the 1951 movie! Let the kids bike 1/2 mile, down residential streets, to the Jacobs Aquatic Center's three pools with water slides, etc. Next door the town's park offers free tennis, handball, roller blade/cardio paths and dog walking areas. Beaches are rare in the Keys which are made of builtup coral, but you can drive and park at tiny beachs along the Overseas Highway in Islamorada. There are three nice beaches at the John Pennekamp Park (one with a Spanish wreck 100' off shore) and elsewhere in the Keys, and we'll tell you where they are. There are dozens of restaurants, many with Tiki bars, on the water. And, we're less than a 2 hour road trip to Key West, with the most unusual scenery you'll see anywhere on a roadtrip in the US.

You can leave Boston or New York on one of dozens of 3 or 2.5 hour daily direct flights to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami in the morning and be on Calypso's deck by early afternoon, in the tropics. Of course, the winter season is most popular with temp's in the high 70's to low 80's for Nov-Mar with almost no rain (1-2 inches per month). But, we like the summer when its inexpensive and a less busy time to explore the Keys. The Keys have just half the summer rainfall that southern Florida (e.g., Miami) does. There are sea breezes and temp's stay in the mid-to-high 80's during the 'rainy' season from May through October, and showers occur in the mornings. That's why Floridians summer in the Keys given the great year-round weather.

The marina is protected on all four sides so there are momentary gentle waves from passing boats–No, you won't get seasick! You will hear ropes creaking and the chimes and gongs of the rigging on nearby sailboats, which can put you to sleep. Please note that high winds and storms (they do occur and we can't plan for them) will cause much back-and-forth movement, bumping and creaking–it is a boat on the water–until the wind abates, but the docks will remain stable.

Calypso is a brand new and available for your vacation bare boat charter when she's home at the Pilot House. We have local managers who live in the marina. Calypso stays on the dock; she cannot be moved from the marina without an owner/captain aboard. Your charter will be stationary, but still nautical and right on the water. There are plenty of local captains ready to take you out for the day, and then you can come home to your floating retreat. Try a unique boating experience for your next vacation! (updated 12/03/13)

My sisters, my mom and I decided to have a girls trip to the Keys. I was thrilled to find a houseboat in Key Largo! It was exactly as described, but the rooftop deck was even better. The boat was clean, and cool when we arrived. The neighbors on the marina were helpful too. We really enjoyed drinking coffee and eating breakfast on the deck. i highly recommend staying on the Calypso!

My family, 7 adults, enjoyed the houseboat and the neighborhood very much. The upper deck is wonderful: we had dinners and breakfasts on the deck. We spent two days at the near by state park, also drove to Key West. Overall, it was a wonderful vacation and the houseboat is well situated for visiting FL keys.

We are a family of 6 - grandmother, parents, and little boys 10,8, and 5. We were all very excited about staying in a houseboat. Tje actual experience wasn't quite as exotic and exciting as anticipated but we all were comfortable. It was more like staying in an RV but in a marina. Although the upper deck area was a treat. The written arrival instructions were detailed and clear. We arrived between 5 and 6 pm and the arrival instructions indicated the manager was available only for emergencies after 5 and we had no problems so we didn't have contact with him until he stopped by the day we left. The house boat seemed clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. It is docked in a crowded marina that is inland connected to the ocean by a honeycomb of canals. The marina seemed like a nice community. The Pilot House Restaurant was about 200 steps from the houseboat and we had a very relaxing, fun meal there one night. We made a reservation to be sure we had a table in the bar area where we would be over the glass floor through which you can see fish and coral!. If you ask the waiter they'll give you little cups of oatmeal flakes the kids can put through the floor boards to attract fish. Some people might find the marina and restaurants with bar bands noisy but we didn't mind. We put the AC on in the boat so the kids wouldn't hear and it was pleasant sitting on the deck of the houseboat at night listening to the music from the Pilot House and the other bar/restaurant across the water. The area around Key Largo and south of there have beautiful state and national parks. We had an unforgettable day snorkeling on the coral reefs of John Pennekamp (?) park, loved visiting Anne's beach park, and Bhai Honda (?) park on other days. A great morning spent at the Turtle Hospital in Marathon Key - about an hour south. We spent one day driving about 1 -2 hours north to the Everglades National Park - Ashtinga (?) Trail . Took the ranger guided tour and saw 6 alligators up close, exotic and dramatic birds, and learned a lot from the talk. There's a Starbucks on the main highway about 3 minutes drive from the marina :-)

Thank you, Michelle, for letting us spend a wonderful week on your beautiful house boat! It was in a great location in Key Largo - we loved the nightly music at the Pilot House! I was a bit scared of any movement on the boat because I get easily sea sick - that was never an issue! In fact, I quite enjoyed the gentle movements! The boat was very spacious and comfortable for the 7 of us that stayed on it. We saw a manatee in the marina the day before we left, too!! Our favorite part of our trip was grilling fresh fish almost every night on the upper deck while enjoying a glass of wine! There was a full moon the last couple of days of our stay!! Was soooo hard flying back to 20 degree and snowy weather in Denver!!

The houseboat is as described. It is clean and well furnished. We were unlucky to have a lot of rain during our stay, but lucky to have a retreat that was comfortable inside and out. The upper deck, even in a drizzle, was a joy, and when the skies cleared, the deck was even nicer. TV channels and reception aren't great, so we turned to streaming. Internet access was slow and intermittent, but we used one of our unlimited data cells as a hotspot and watched movies and YouTube. Pack your Chromecast or AppleTV. The Pilot House bar is fun and very reasonable. We watched U-M blow it in the last seconds to Michigan State and drank $1.75 draft beers. There was a band every night of our weekend. We visited a couple great seafood restaurants nearby: Hobo's Cafe and The Fish House. Sit at the FH bar and parry with the bartenders near closing time.

Nice houseboat and wonderful alternative to a hotel. Friendly marina folks as well. The kids enjoyed their own bedrooms and the living spaces were plenty big including the upper deck. Highly recommended!
