This has been a really stressful and unpleasant experience. Completely out of nowhere the host decided to kick me out on a Saturday night at 10:30 by email. She saw me walk out of the house for dinner around 9pm - I wished her to feel better (she had complained she wasn't feeling…

I have successfully hosted hundreds of guests in my home over 5 years now, and have great ratings to show for it. I discovered Vlad lying to me during his stay, and now, it seems he has chosen to lie here in this review, as well. I believe this may be a pathological behavior for him. Let me explain. Vlad, at first, seemed like a great guest. Personable and friendly. He was due to stay 3 nights at my home in Austin. The first night, he asked if it was ok to smoke a vape pen on my outdoor patio off the bedroom. I assumed it was a nicotine substitute, so I said sure, no problem. He promised he would not smoke inside. But then later that night, I smelled pot coming from the upstairs balcony. The next day, after he spent a good part of the afternoon hanging out in his room, I could smell pot coming directly from inside the bedroom. I could not believe that he had misled me about what he was smoking in his vape pen. And that he lied about not smoking inside the house, but did so, anyway. Very serious lies, not to mention bringing illegal drugs into my home (I live in Texas where pot is not legalized). In addition, before he checked in, he assured me that I wouldn't have anything to worry about because, "I don't drink." Then, when telling me about his first night's dinner out, he slipped and mentioned the cocktail he had with dinner. I have no problem with a guest having a drink or two with dinner, but it was the fact he had told me he didn’t drink that was the red flag. I was caught off guard catching him in a lie. After catching him in several significant lies, the trust had been broken. I did not feel safe with him in my home, uncertain of what else would happen, what else I would be lied to about. I have had problem guests before, and as a single woman, I don't take chances confronting a guest in person, and risking my own personal safety. I asked him to check out early via the Airbnb messaging system while he was out. I did quickly and respectfully pack his things and change the door code. I did see 2 bags of weed sitting on the desk in his room, and took a photograph to be able to prove and to justify my actions of asking him to leave early with Airbnb (Airbnb did completely side with me after I provided them the photos). I do not go into people's rooms and certainly don't go through their things. In this case, I had significant and justifiable reasons, since he was putting me in significant risk legally by bringing pot into my home. My other guest had even commented smelling the whole upstairs smell like a skunk. The weekend Vlad checked in, I also had another young fellow there, whom I had been hosting for 45 days, and had zero complaints or issues with. Again, I have successfully hosted hundreds of guests in my home over 5 years now, and have great ratings to show for it. As long as guests treat me and my home with kindness and mutual respect, and trust is not broken, everything goes great for both me and all my guests. I just think Vlad does not understand the importance of the trust that must exist between host and guest when a guest is to stay in a host's personal home. Telling someone what they want to hear, but then doing opposite, is not only self-serving, but dishonest and disrespectful to the host that is opening their home to him. For these reasons, I cannot, in good faith, recommend Vlad to other hosts. And I stand by my decision to have him leave early.
Lana’s place is a very nice house. It’s not really walkable but still very centrally located. This isn’t a normal AirBnb. You don’t have access to the kitchen and the whole upstairs is rented out to other tenants. I supposed it’s a more traditional bed and breakfast in that way. …
