Four of us (two couples w/o children) stayed at this villa for a week in early July and had a lovely experience. It is quiet, comfortable, spacious and clean. It was a very good value compared to staying in a resort hotel. Although we did not meet him, Douglas, our host, was responsive timely via email and sent us detailed directions for getting to/in the condo, making our arrival seamless.
When home, we hung out on the expansive patio looking at the sea and enjoying the breeze. We also enjoyed the pool--a few steps away--and the private resort beach which is featured in the photos. (It's a three-minute walk.) The beach was rarely crowded and chairs were always available. The beach is in a lagoon with snorkeling as good as anywhere else we went on the island, right next to the seaquarium's dolphin enclosure. A short walk away are restaurants, bars and shops at the Mambo Beach "mall." Soon Starbucks will open there, too. We rented a car and were pleased to have a private parking space right outside the door. A car is essential, not only to explore the island but just to get groceries and access the downtown pedestrian-friendly areas.
The AirBnB website does not show what amenities this ground-floor villa offers. In addition to refrigerator, stove and oven, it has a coffeemaker, propane grill, microwave, dishwasher, A/C, washer/dryer, outdoor showers (by the pool and the beach), DVD player and TV (but no TV broadcast or cable service-- can only use it to watch DVDs.). It does NOT have WiFi. But we found that many public places on the island offer free WiFi, including the Seaquarium and nearby Mambo beach, so we did not suffer too much!
This villa is an end unit, next to the parking lot which is opposite the view of the sea. We did not mind this because it allowed us to watch the sunset. But some people may prefer a more private enclosure.
Curaçao is a desert island with desalinated tap water. It is clear and tastes fine. We drank a lot of it without adverse effects. Our only negative experience was on our first day after we went shopping and loaded a bunch of bottles in the fridge. A plastic door shelf which had been poorly repaired, failed and crashed to the tile floor, breaking glass all over. (When I reported this to our host, suggesting the condo be better supplied with cleaning materials and the shelf replaced so this doesn't happen to future guests, he deflected responsibility saying "no comment, things happen" and life is too short to worry about material things. A little flippant.)
Nevertheless, we highly recommend this condo. It suited all our needs. We preferred to have WiFi, but without it we were better able to disconnect and relax. Great meals at Fishalicious and the Curaçao Brewing Company.
