This cozy room is in a classic Craftsman home in a friendly, walkable neighborhood with easy access to downtown and other attractions via car or bus. We provide breakfast foods (even gluten/dairy free) & kitchen access. Winter pricing special!
You'll sleep in a fun bedroom full of custom-painted murals and stars on the ceiling. The bed is an antique 3/4 bed that may not be comfortable for two larger people, but is fine for most couples and perfect for a single. Your private bath includes a clawfoot tub with shower.
This bedroom and bathroom are separated from the main floor living spaces (living/dining room) by a door, so you will have privacy.
Families welcome. An infant or toddler could sleep in a travel crib or "nest" on the floor. If your group needs more space, please see our listing for "Family Friendly on Phinney Ridge" for photos of our larger suite.
While visiting, you are welcome to share the living room, dining room, kitchen and deck of our Craftsman house with us. We ask that you are aware and respectful of our use of the space as well. We'll give you the wifi code when you arrive.

We are early risers (often before 6, but quietly) and appreciate quiet after 11 pm. We will be in and out and preparing and eating our own meals at home during your stay. We enjoy chatting in the kitchen and often check in via notes on the countertop. We're happy to share recommendations, directions or other Seattle information.

On request, we will prepare a gluten-free breakfast, including something baked. We can also provide a listing of nearby restaurants and bakeries offering gluten-free menu items. If you don't require a GF diet, we will provide choices of cereal, toast, yogurt, and fruit for you to fix your own conventional breakfast and there are many coffee shops and a great neighborhood grocery nearby.
We are a pet-free household, but there is a visiting neighborhood cat so it may not be a good fit if you are severely allergic. Occasionally there may be family or Airbnb guests sleeping in a bedroom immediately below your space, although we try to avoid scheduling this way.
Because of our work schedules, we primarily accept guests who are able to arrive on Saturday or Sunday or between 6 and 9 pm on weeknights. PLEASE LET US KNOW YOUR EXPECTED ARRIVAL TIME WHEN YOU REQUEST A RESERVATION SO WE KNOW IF WE CAN ACCOMMODATE YOUR SCHEDULE OR NOT.
Arrivals must be coordinated with our schedule and are preferred before 9 pm. Please communicate any arrival delays promptly.
We ask that guests come and go quietly after 11 pm. Be sure to close and latch windows and lock front and back doors each time you leave the house.
No fragrance sprays, strong perfumes, or other scented products in our home. No smoking of any kind indoors or outdoors at our house.
Top floor and rooms with closed doors are private.
Please ask if you want to ask other friends or family members to spend time with you while staying in our home. No additional overnight guests.
We appreciate it if guests leave their shoes in our foyer - both for cleanliness and also so that we can easily see if you are in for the evening, etc. and can be quiet for you or leave on the porch light, as needed.
Wash any dishes you use - we don't have a dishwasher.
Ask if you wish to do laundry.

We have lived in a great Seattle neighborhood for over 25 years and are married with 3 grown children. Judith works at the University of Washington and enjoys dance, music, reading, and outdoor activities. We are active members of a Unitarian congregation. Cal likes to go fishing when he's not at work. We love to travel, but need to economize!
