Chiniak Alaska- 35 miles from the bustle of Kodiak City on a scenic highway with ocean views. From the living room you can observe the sea no matter what the weather is.
If you like the road less traveled and want to visit a remote part of Kodiak while still on the road system, this may be the perfect spot for you.

Views, kitchen, good signal internet & telephone (limited bandwidth), claw foot bathtub/shower, pure clean cold drinking water on tap. Gaze out the large windows facing the bay, listen to music, do a puzzle, cook, make arts or crafts, write, read, watch a movie, relax. We use eco friendly cleaning products. Hosts live on site in separate cabin.
Summer 2017 guest review:
An Original View, was so much more then the profile, Beautiful quiet relaxing. for a review all stars gold. We returned too late to write a review through the Airbnb 14 day limit. To put it simple if or when we return to the island of Kodiak ( An Original View) would be the only place we would stay.
Guests have use of entire cabin: plus outdoor gear such as rain coats/hats/gloves, as well as puzzles, books, and movies. Internet signal is good (check with your provider), though bandwidth is limited.

You may want to get groceries in Kodiak before heading out the road as it's 35 miles from town one way. The kitchen has basic provisions such as olive oil and spices for cooking. There is a restaurant and package store nearby, the Olds River Inn, which has a full menu and is open summers wed-friday for dinner, and saturday/sunday for lunch & dinner.
There is a t.v. and dvd player with a selection of movies and books.
Probably not a good choice if you have physical difficulties, due to a claw foot tub (with shower) that requires some leg lifting to get into. Some changes in floor levels so not friendly to folks who like really flat floors.
Internet signal is strong, however- due to bandwidth limitations we cannot download large files such as games, movies, or videos.
There is no television or cable, only dvds and books.
If you don't like driving on a long isolated road, or a partially gravel road, which can be dusty if the weather is dry and has some potholes, this home may not be the best choice for you. If you prefer a road less traveled and are a self sufficient traveler who loves to be immersed in nature, doesn't mind feeling isolated, does not need large quantities of internet data, and wants to experience rural Alaska in comfort and beauty, this may be the perfect spot for you.
Pets allowed upon approval, no smoking inside please.
We will be available more or less as needed by our guests. We would love to visit a bit if you'd like or leave you to your privacy.

Our style of hosting is to meet the guests up front, then leave our guests alone unless they would like to chat. Love to host guests who are enthusiastic about and respectful of nature and the environment and would like an experience away from the city and its amenities. We provide a comfortable and art filled place to curl up after a hike or walk and to read a book, do a puzzle, watch the ocean, cook, and be secluded.
