I just noticed your review. While I am happy you enjoyed your stay I felt it necessary to address your review. There is absolutely nothing passive/aggressive about my notes - they are meant to be informative. I run a business and I invest quite a bit of money into my properties and I am always reinvesting in my business to continually improve upon it. You are after all in the banking industry so you should be understanding of that.
I only post the "house rules" after having more than a few guests do things like run the air conditioning with the windows open which increases my electric costs considerably and this is counter productive when I try to keep my rates low and affordable. Once a guest arrives I never enter the space as I respect their privacy and instead allow the windows to stay open and air conditioning running throughout their stay.
I only raised my rates for the first time this year ($10.00) after 5 years. I continually have problems with people putting their accounts on my Netflix, etc and you can only imagine how difficult and time consuming it is to convince these companies that this is actually my account, since I obviously do not have their passwords to make any changes.
Additionally while the majority of our guests clean up after themselves, there have been many times my housekeeper comes in and finds food left on the tables, beer bottles everywhere, trash overflowing. Again this is a business and I invest my hard earned money into it each and every day. I also do not charge a cleaning fee as many other hosts do and in order to keep my rates affordable I hope to not ever have to charge a cleaning fee.
So yes I post a few reminders on my refrigerator along with things like the WiFi password, my telephone and contact information should a guest need to reach me. There are no notes on the “walls” of my rental other than one on the light switch not to use the heat lamp and electric fireplace in the bathroom at the same time as it blows the circuit breaker and I may not be on the property to switch it back on, which is inconvenient to my guests.
I am sure you noticed too that you are the only one that found these notes passive/aggressive or anything at all - judging by my prior reviews. It is too bad you didn't communicate your concerns with me as I am always available to my guests so I could have explained why vs. leaving a review such as the one you did.
I am terribly sorry I missed out on the opportunity to review you as a guest. If you ever end up owning rentals whether long term or short term you will then know why. Thank you for choosing the Denmark Stage Stop House.
