Beautiful Quiet Retreat in a Private Setting, the home backs up to hundreds of acres of forever wild land- home to birds, wild turkey, bobcats, black bear, deer, and fox. We are 20 minutes to Woodstock, 30 minutes to Belleayre Mountain for ski or concerts. The house sleeps up to 10 comfortably. With an open airy feel, the house gets great natural light, and offers living spaces for both privacy and togetherness for two couples, large families, reunions, professional retreats, or solo travelers.
The house is just right for gathering with friends or family, but provides spaces for retreat and reflection both inside and out so that there are spaces in your togetherness. The space gets wonderful light all year round, from the skylights and also the sliding doors in the main living area. We have artists, writers and spiritual seekers stay at the house, and all agree that the home and property inspire creativity and spark connection.
We are committed to helping to make the world less hate filled, and to this end, we offer special rates for non-profit groups who are working on social & racial justice issues. Please inquire about this if you feel it may apply to your group.
Guest have access to the entire home- 5 "official" bedrooms- which sleep 11 people if they bunk up, and one queen bed in the den/guest room for sleeping. There is also a second floor sleeping nook area that is beloved by our guests that sleeps two comfortably. We provide a new pack and play with mattress and sheet should you need bedding for a little one. Most mattresses are new, our towels are heavy Egyptian Cotton, and our bedding is warm, clean and comfortable. Ceiling fans are in several rooms, and we have air purifiers in the basement bedroom areas as well as the main basement living area. Fresh flowers greet you upon your arrival, and if you need anything extra in the fridge, beyond basic condiments which are available for your use, let us know so we can stock up. The home is as chemical free as we can make it, as we have some chemical sensitivities in our family. To this end, all cleaning products, including laundry detergents, are free of fragrance, and when possible, free of harsh chemicals as well. We ask that guests kindly use our detergents with our washing machine to continue to ensure a chemical free environment.

There is so much to do in the area, and at the same time, doing nothing at all is always a beautiful thing. The home contains lots of books and has an assortment of board games for your use. When you reserve, we provide you with a list of area attractions, including our favorite spots to buy local organic food, see the eagles' nest, walk over the reservoir, hike, and experience music and art. The area is noted for its arts community, and is central to so many of the magical places in the Catskills. We have been guest in the Catskill for over 20 years, and are still discovering all the wonderful treasures it holds.
I am mama to 4 homeschooled kids, happily married to my husband of 15 years...I am also writer, a psychotherapist and an aspiring knitter and painter. We have dogs, we have cats and we keep bees. As a family, we are interested in sustainability, permaculture, earth based spirituality, saving the planet, growing food, repurposing everything, and then, of course, bike riding, lego, star wars, taking long walks, finding heart shaped rocks, and making connections with people in new places. We love the Catskill region of NY, and hope to make it our home someday. We have been traveling there for 15 years with our kids and dogs- and are still just getting to know the area.
For now we share a small three bedroom house across from a gorgeous pond with abundant wildlife, in the heart of homeschooling country in NJ, in which we creatively make use of living and sleeping space so that we all have privacy and connection. I write in a closet, we have little nooks and forts all over the house, and we have converted one of our three bedrooms to a living motto as a family is: world peace begins at home: be nicer to your kids. That or, An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. We travel here and there now that our youngest is getting older, and are excited to have discovered this way of staying in new places.
