I was born in Habana and brought to the US at the age of nine leaving big family ties in my island. I have traveled back to Cuba yearly since I was old enough to travel alone. Traveling has always been my passion but there is something about going back home unlike anything else in the world. Our people, our music our beaches and our simple lives are what continues to draw millions of tourists to the Island every year.
I met and married the love of my life Guillermo Estrada almost ten years ago and he introduced me to his hometown. La Boca, Trinidad, Cuba is a unique part of our Island since there is so much diversity in the area, this small fisherman's neighborhood has transformed itself throughout history. His family had a small vacation home there and after many trips back and forth we decided we wanted to keep this heirloom in the family and help be a part of the economic changes in the area.
Since we started hosting our Casa Estrada in April of 2016 we have been booked solid and due to the demand that the other neighbors have seen, they have asked that we host their homes as well.
Only 5 kilometers away you will find the historical city of Trinidad with its
Plazas and an open-air museum of Spanish Colonial architecture and cobblestone streets and colonial houses in pastel colors with wrought-iron, and colonial-era are bound to have all visitors enchanted.
Founded in 1514. Trinidad is one of the best-preserved cities in the Caribbean from the time when the sugar trade was the main industry in the region.
There are also several (casas de musica) houses of music, including one next to the cathedral in Plaza Major as well discothèques, including one in the ruins of a church; another is in a large cave formerly used as a war time hospital, in order to enjoy some old as well as new rhythms of the Island.
The Valley of the Sugar Mills—Valle de los Ingenios, also a World Heritage Site, has around 70 historic sugar cane mills. They represent the importance of sugar to the Cuban economy since the 18th century. The valley has la Torre Iznaga, a 45 meters (148 ft) tower built in 1816.
And how can I leave out its Coast and Beaches 20 kilometers (12 mi) from the city is Topes de Collantes, one of Cuba’s premier eco-tourism centers. Another attraction is the Casilda Bay, which attracts both snorkelers and divers.
A nearby islet has pristine beaches. Ancón Beach—Playa Ancón, is a white sand beach only 2 miles from La Boca you would be able to bike ride to the beach and snorkel within a mile offshore.
