Creative retreat, feels like a tree house with tree top view. Private Carriage House at back of garden property. Neighborhood is multi-cultural, middle-class, cul-de-sac ideally located for getting around LA. Off-street parking.
CREATIVE SPACE, RARE CARRIAGE HOUSE - CENTRAL LOCATION (Seriously -close to just about everything you want to see in Los Angeles!)
Why stay in a hotel or even a room in someone else’s home, when for the same price (or less) you can have complete privacy in an incredible space.
Location: Private and spacious carriage house, which is centrally located in the EAST Culver City/mid-Wilshire adjacent area of Los Angeles. 10 minutes from the charm of Larchmont Village and Paramount Studios, 15 minutes from downtown LA and 7 minutes to Beverly Hills or Culver City. Walking distance to Venice Boulevard, which is serviced by major bus lines going east and west: bus stops within 1 block both directions. La Cienega for North/South buses.
Description: The carriage house is a large, unique 5 room - open-space style apartment located above the 2-car garages with its own entry and porch overlooking a large garden. When built back in the 1920's it was called a "mother-in-law" unit. It is completely detached from the main house ensuring total privacy and is located down a gated driveway (which is narrow so small cars only) with its own private and secure entry. The porch faces south and is covered in flowering Angel Trumpet and Maple trees.
My guests are ensured of their privacy and comfort. I like my guests to feel at home. I love hosting people of all ages and from all parts of the globe. I grew up in Yokohama, Japan and come from an Irish-American heritage, and appreciate all cultures. How boring life would be if we were all the same!
• Lovely and comfortable Queen sized bed with fresh linens on arrival.
• Vanity room with hanging space, a chest of drawers and ample space for your bags. This room is also large enough to set up the Twin-size AIR BED.
• Tile bathroom with a shower (no tub), soft and fluffy towels and an iron and ironing board are provided.
• The main area features hardwood floors and high ceiling, lots of windows so is bright and cheerful with amazing tree-top views. Sofa bed (full size mattress) or click-back sofa converts to sleep one. Also has desk area.
• The dine-in kitchen has a microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee maker, French Press, toaster-oven, hotplate, electric skillet, blender, cooking utensils, pans, plates, glasses, cutlery etc.
• Free broadband wireless.
• Heat, no air conditioning (generally not needed considering proximity to beach & coastal breeze, but I do have a fan for those rare heat waves that we get every now and then).
• Washer & Dryer, coin operated.
• Small car that doesn't block main garage can have off-street parking, otherwise easy street parking on a quiet street in front of the main house. If you are not comfortable backing out of a narrow driveway then plan to street park.
• Steam cleaned between guests to reduce allergens for those who suffer from seasonal allergies.
* I've lived here since 1993 and have found it to be safe. It is an urban, middle-class, family residential neighborhood.
• PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU BOOK
I require a $200 refundable damage/security deposit and a one-time $100 cleaning fee (this price is based on a short stay of a 14 nights or less, longer stays require more time to get back in order & could increase the fee based on how you leave it) – both fees handled through Airbnb . If you have an extended stay (30 or more days) please note that you should expect to pay for MID-STAY CLEANING $85 and scheduled 14-15 days after check-in. This fee is due at time of check in and payable in cash.
NO SMOKING inside the Carriage House - but you may smoke outside: we just ask that you not leave butts on the ground or in the inside house trash. Please use a provided ash tray and dispose of contents in the outside trash cans.
I've had 1 guest have an issue with the wireless; could be their skills because none of the rest of us had a problem during the time he had a problem, but wireless is wireless so if you live & die by being connected to the internet you should look into Net Zero or one of the personal-go-with-you providers. My WiFi is Time Warner highest speed, but it still has its moments.
No pets please - I do my best to provide an allergy free unit. Also, my yard attracts the neighborhood cats because I'm one of the few people who does not have a dog and have accepted my role as keeper of the sanctuary.
I require photos and profiles from all guests be completed on their Airbnb profile page - I will not process a booking without this.
ONLY guests named in the reservation are allowed on the property: this has to do with insurance requirements.
You will have access to the garden, main patio and the BBQ Grill. Feel free to eat at the table on the patio or read a book on the glider by the pond (currently drained while LA suffers drought).
You have access to the laundry room with coin operated washer & dryer.
Общение с гостями
Because we are in separate houses on the same grounds it's possible once guests check in I hardly see them, and others who spend time on the patio we see a bit more of each other. Some guests I see a great deal of & we do things together; anything I'm going to that I think might interest a guest I let them know if they would like to join me they are welcome to. Some guests are here to finish writing a script or to shoot a movie and need privacy and they get it. I'm easy going, and I treat people as I like to be treated.

Clean up after yourself - washing dishes is not part of the cleaning fee. Any stay beyond 14 days will require additional cleaning fee & I will set up cleaning date for 14-15 days after your check-in with my cleaning lady. Do not BLOCK DRIVEWAY. As an EMT I often get called to an emergency and time is critical, I can't be waiting for people to move their cars.
This is either your vacation or you're here for work/school and I want you to have the best experience and environment to meet your needs.
I have a house manual in the unit to answer any questions you may have & give you as much information as I have to help you enjoy the area.

I'm a writer and like most creative people I do many things. My passion for travel lead me to become a travel host for a travel club. I'm a nationally certified EMT for movies and TV, and if that isn't enough I'm also a professional supervised child visitation monitor.
I grew up in Yokohama, Japan where I was a model/actress. I was under contract to Buena Vista (Disney) and when the movie Snow White came to Japan I became Princess Snow White for 2 years traveling all over Japan for the film. It was my favorite job because I went to children's hospitals and orphanages with truck loads of gifts. It taught me that giving is joyful and fulfilling. I once was fluent, but too many years of no one to speak with it's now a lot of work for me to put a sentence together.
I love travel, photography, which is a hobby, and I've had the good fortune to have my photographs published in 3 books. Love treasure hunting, cooking, reading, movies, exploring other cultures and am open to new experiences and adventures. I love tropical destinations, but must say Alaska's Inside Passage and the Grand Canyon are two places no one should live without seeing. I have many favorite books and must confess I'm a Harry Potter fan! Movies...Yep, love the romantic comedies! As far as the 5 things I can't live without: love, compassion, honesty, family and good health.
I'd say that I am basically a shy, private person and while I love people I don't drink or smoke so wouldn't say I'm a party-girl. As a host I'm pretty easy going. My spaces are all separate houses on one property so everyone has a lot of privacy and often we don't see each other unless one initiates a face-to-face meet. I'm the sort of person that if I have a party I certainly would invite my guests. I try to accommodate others; I had a guest who left this tux for me to return... he didn't even give me a review and I went out of my way quite a bit. I suppose that would be my pet peeve; people who are not appreciative when others extend themselves. Fortunately, most people are gems and a delight.
