Super low-key, ground floor apartment with plenty of light, but stays cool in the day time. Big back yard with a mango tree and a large lanai (patio).
It's an older house that is split into two apartments. The upstairs neighbors are super quiet and are friends of mine, so they're around to help with any questions that might come up during your stay. The neighborhood is not overly scenic being right in the middle of town, but hey... it's right in the middle of town.
My entire ground-floor apartment, lanai, laundry facilities, one parking space in carport and another in driveway, back yard (although it's rocky and pretty wild back there so you may not want to).

In most cases I will be out of town. If I'm around, I will happily interact as much or as little as desired. The upstairs neighbors are friends of mine, and are usually home, so they are available to help with any issues that might arise during your stay (they're very friendly, and super quiet).
- Smoking only outside on the lanai

I work in the coffee industry as a roaster and coffee educator. I grew up in North Carolina, and lived there most of my life until recently moving to Kona.
I have spent a decent amount of time traveling, and have visited somewhere around thirty countries - mostly in Europe, but I also spent a week in Guatemala a while back. I love to travel without airplanes whenever possible, and have crossed the Atlantic in both directions on ships (the Eastbound voyage was aboard a container ship).
I studied philosophy and cognitive science in college, with a minor in film studies. I had planned to continue on to a PhD program, but ended up falling in love with the coffee industry and... here I am.
I have couchsurfed extensively, and am very good at existing in other peoples' homes while causing minimal disturbance. I think it's essential when traveling to experience a place through the eyes of the people who live there, so I always try to find local/personal options for lodging.
I am pretty quiet. I read a lot, play with coffee, and spend a lot of time wandering around exploring new places.
