An authentic shepherd's hut set on a small, coastal sheep farm in West Cornwall. The hut offers a true taste of the life as a bygone shepherd but with a little extra comfort! Dogs welcome.
The Shepherd's Shack is an authentic shepherd's hut that has been built by myself with the help of a few friends. It is based on the traditional design and layout of a Nineteenth Century living van, and has, where possible, been built from recycled and local materials. I hope that you might feel that the resident shepherd has just stepped out to attend to his, or her, flock.
The hut has it's own shower room with basin and compost loo. There is a small kitchen area with a gas stove, sink and fridge. Simple cooking equipment is included.
The hut is fully insulated with, you guessed it, sheeps wool and is warmed by a wood burning stove.
There is a raised box bed, with a pull out dining table, two stools, a small wardrobe and plenty of storage. The bed has a sheep's wool duvet and there is a small sofa in front of the wood burner to keep you warm on cooler nights.
The hut is set in its own wee wild flower meadow with beautiful views to the sea and moors. Parking is right next to the hut.

Life can be busy on the farm and so I am not always around but am never far away and usually on hand in the evenings if you need anything. I am more than happy to chat with you about hidden gems to check out and lovely places to eat. If you want total peace and quiet that's fine too. If you fancy a sheepie experience the girls will be happy to meet you, especially if you have a digestive biscuit or banana to hand!

The Shepherds Shack is largely off grid......your water comes from a well, hot water is run off lpg, heating comes from a wood burner and there is a compost loo. The hut is cleaned using eco products and good old elbow grease and linen is hung out to dry in the sun. There is currently no wifi in the hut however you are welcome to come up to the house to use your device. Mobile signal in the area is pretty patchy!
If you have a car with a very low suspension, I am thinking Lamborghini here, it is advisable to park at the bottom of the track. I can fetch your luggage in my landrover.
I am very happy to accommodate dogs but please bring their own bed/s. Please bear in mind that there are livestock on the farm so keep your furry friends under supervision. I have two working Border Collies, Floss and Billy, who are very friendly and some ducks and hens who are likely to pay you a visit!
By booking the hut you kindly agree to:
- read OTHER THINGS TO NOTE so you know what to expect;
- leave cooking equipment clean and remove rubbish from the hut;
- where possible, use resources with care;
- for your own safety, take care when lighting the wood burner and reduce it to a low burn before going to bed or leaving the hut;
- be aware that there is a compost loo in the hut.... which separates wee and poo, and means that gentlemen need to wee sitting down;
- not leave your furry friends on their own in the hut, not let them on the bed or sofa, keep them on a lead near livestock and kindly clear up after them.
THANK YOU :-)
As this is a working farm check-in is from 6.00pm. This can often be earlier if you advise me a couple of days before arrival
