Welcome one and all. Imagine you are in a movie paradise with soft carpet underfoot, a living room of cushy pillows, music, crystal chandelier and off that, a full kitchen. From a short hallway where Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra (I dated him!) and Humphrey Bogart greet you, past a bathroom, tiny gold dressing room, to the Bedroom. Lots of natural light. Outside a long tile deck for dining and sunning. In a spectacular Peace Garden/ Museum, and a table by a waterfall.
The space is very tranquil. I planned it to be a true extension of my home. Master interior designer, Michael Taylor, designed two former homes for me. I learned about scale and color from Michael. When I moved to Beverly Hills from San Francisco thirteen years ago, I did all the interiors myself. My home was featured in Architectural Digest a few years later. I have the same quality in my B&B. People tell me that my house is friendly which I consider the perfect compliment. In many ways the area is like being in the country while just minutes from Rodeo Drive and the Beverly Hills Hotel. Last Spring A storm felled seven tall trees on the hillside in back of my home. For months we have been working to repair the damage to my side garden, just completed, but still have some replanting to do. Still, you will look out from the deck at trees and wild areas, unusual for a home in the city. I hope you will like it even half as much as I do.
After parking in my garage, if you wish, or in front of my garage you will proceed to your own private entrance. After parking you will open a blue lattice gate and walk down a flight of steps to the beginning of your deck. Turn left and a lovely tile deck with table and chairs as well as high back wicker chairs and umbrellas along with green plants will greet you. Turn left again and there is your door. Beyond the deck and through an wrought iron gate is my new side garden and waterfall and even a canopy bed if you wish to use it, day or night. Climbing vines of flowers planted just about a month ago and are already spilling their beauty over the wooden fence. Enjoy yourself. There is beauty here.

I will welcome you after which Aura, my assistant will show you to your apartment. We are available to answer your questions. I hope we will have a chance to get to know each other but socializing is totally up to you. I will offer visualization lessons if you wish. I also talk about my books on entertaining as well as my international work in Russia. Of great interest at this time is a chapter I call The Last trip To Moscow, when the Russian Mafia threatened my life after hijacking 70 tons of foodstuff I had gotten donated during a starving winter in Russia.

You may hear the felling of already fallen trees as master artist, Rogillo,(he created the delightful waterfall you will see) works to clear the debris from the storm I mentioned. When that work is completed you will have access down log steps to a spot for mediation. A labyrinth will also be build soon in a flat space toward the end of my property. I hope this place will inspire a spiritual retreat for those who want it. Enjoy, Darlin', there is real magic here.

I am a writer. The things I am most involved in are entertaining, having founded the Roundtable luncheons wherein diverse folks, such as Senator Dianne Feinstein, Joan Baez, and Alex Haley, along with a woman who had killed her husband, talk honestly about their lives. In 1982, during the Cold War, I founded Children As The Peacemakers, an international foundation. That lead me to 37 trips around the world with children and meetings with 26 world leaders, I know about the rigors and pleasures of travel. I really like to laugh and think I have a keen sense of humor. The one thing I can't live without is friends. Friends from various backgrounds, economic and ethnic, contributors to life, mine and theirs as well as others.
My first book, many years ago, was How To Be A Party Girl! Yes, it was. No, I don't pop out of cakes but I sure do know how to entertain. My next book, Recipes For Conversation, a Salon, says it all, I think. My life motto came from my Oklahoma preacher dad. When he needed a few dollars for kids or a down on his luck someone, he held up a painted sign that said "It Can Be Done". That is my motto.
