Akumal is a peaceful community near great natural sites and the most beautiful beaches I have visited through my travels. We are 45 km south of Cancun; 15 - 20 km south of Playa del Carmen and 15 kms. north of Tulum. North Akumal has a market on Wed & Sat; small grocery store, many great restaurants, dive & snorkeling centers. Short driving distance to Tulum & Coba Mayan Ruins. Tulum Beach is worth a trip while visiting the area as it is ranked by many travel magazines as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and we agree. Sea turtles nest in North Akumal, Jade Beach and their is an ecology center (CEA) where guests can learn more about the coral reef and help man beaches during turtle nesting season. Our home is a great place for a family and friends to gather, reconnect and share great memories together.
Filtered water left for guests is free of charge. Feel free to roam the neighborhood and enjoy walk to look out point and sandy beach short walking distance to our home. Bring water shoes to enjoy walking on coral and collecting beautiful sea treasures that you will encounter on your adventure.

We highly recommend visiting Coba as well as Tulum as both are fabulous Mayan ruins. Snorkeling in nearby beach (footsteps away), North Akumal as well an short drive to great cenotes (Cyrstal is our favorite) and Soloman bay are always rewarding. Ask Armando (manger) for any info. regarding other sites of interest or arranging fishing excursions. Our favorite is Muyil (just south of TULUM, 20 mins. south of our home) for spending a relaxing day floating in the clear waters of Xian Khan (largest bioreserve in Western hemisphere and a Unesco World Heritage Site).
No smoking inside the home please. Do not launder linens nor towels, housekeeper changes linens weekly, but request to do so earlier will be honored if needed. No chemicals ie, suntan lotions, sunscreen when entering our pool or Jacuzzi. Do not take indoor cushions outside, lounge chairs are available for outside relaxing. Also do not take porcelain dinnerware or glassware to poolside for your safety.
My husband & I love to travel, we take 2 trips a year with family outside the US. We are fascinated by different cuisine and take the time to learn about the local history prior to arriving. Due to our work we travel to Europe annually & take extra time to enjoy the local culture. We also love the Yucatan penninsula & own a wonderful beach home there. We noted that each time we visit Ruby Moon or Casa Amistad we do one new thing, and haven't repeated discovering new adventures. We love the ancient ruins & always return to Coba , which is still surrounded by jungle & has a spectacular view of the nearby lakes. We feel it is well worth exploring & take different xachbe's (ancient roads connecting Coba to other Mayan cities) each time.It is well worth visiting Muyil an ancient Mayan port with phenomenal access to the sea by a natural canal used during ancient times. I love the locals & have made friends through out my years of returning to the Yucatan. It will always be my favorite destination for relaxing & enjoying a break with my family & friends. I love the new jacuzzi tub (I'm a hopeless bathroom snob & hog) and spa bathroom. I almost always rent places based on great bathroom(s) & kitchens as I enjoy cooking & entertaining. Hope to see you enjoying Akumal on your next holiday.
