An elegant historic Captain's house. 2 blocks to downtown, the ferry, town pier and beach, restaurants, and public transportation to the rest of the island. An expansive garden (double lot), patio, and outdoor dining make this property a refuge in the heart of Vineyard Haven.
This historic house was built in 1905 by Captain George Eldridge who in 1875 first published the famous tide schedules still used by sailors today. On Main St, a short walk from the downtown, “Fairtide” sits on a double lot with expansive lawn and gardens.
Other than 1 locked closet and a room in the cellar, guests have full access to the house.

I grew up spending my summers on Martha's Vineyard and now split my time between the island and Nepal, opening my family home here while enjoying the island as an artist. I'm a stone carver and have a gallery on the property. In Nepal I work with American students on semester study abroad programs as well as in humanitarian work. It is a pleasure to be able to share this beautiful and spacious house with guests. I enjoy spending time in the garden and maintaining the property as well as exploring the beauty of this island. I live upstairs and am respectful of your privacy, but also happy to share what I can to ensure you see the best of what the island has to offer.
I look forward to meeting you!
